Funny how Sarika wants to convince everybody outside of China how clean everything is, meanwhile in China sales of instant noodles imploded after massive food safety problems where people found insects and rat heads in their noodles. Also the biggest brand used grains meant for pig food for the noodles because it was only a fraction of the price of human consumption grains. China take hygiene very seriously. You can see these chef with hair caps, gloves uniform. If the authorities find that you are not to hygiene standard your restaurant will be definitely close and licence revoke. Maybe a very heavy fine too.

Actually the hygiene is a joke. Most meals in restaurants are prepackaged meals that they simply heat and serve. These are the dinners you find at a grocery store filled with preservatives. These canteens have mass production with no quality control. Only what you see looks clean, what you don't see isn't.

I think we in India have good standards in reputed places. I have never tried dirty hawker stalls as common sense tells me it is not for the faint hearted. See a lot of foreigners eating from these unhygienic stalls or for that matter staying in gross hostels or boarding places glamorised on the internet. One man's meat is another's poison _ cleanliness matters. Govt. needs to crack down on food handling and medical check up of food handlers

I live in Sydney. This happened more than 30 years ago. When I mentioned to an Indian colleague that I wished to have Chicken Masala and asked him to recommend an Indian restaurant, his reaction was, "don't go to a restaurant because it may not be hygienic, come to my place and I'll ask my wife to cook for you". That was very generous of him and his wife and good luck for me, I had a very delicious Chicken Masala with nan at his place. BTW, I knew of Chicken Masala because I had it before in Goa India back in the early 1970s, in a top restaurant there.
