Imagine you're Bob. You're in your late seventies. Your house is a mess to live in and it never gets clean, because your wife will flip out and threaten to off herself if you do. You're the only one in the house who does any work in the yard, because your twenty-something son is too busy yelling about how lonely he is to do anything other than whine about the minor inconveniences in his life. He was fired from a minimum wage job three years ago after less than a month of employment because the idea of working in a team is "unfair" to him. He was banned from his favorite stores because the idea of following social rules is "unfair" to him. He hasn't picked up a single job application in years because the idea of doing anything other than sit in his room, play video games, or drawing comics is "unfair" to him. It's Christmas Eve, and instead of giving you a gift you'd actually want or need, your son gives you a pirated VHS of a children's show and a letter whining about how people should kiss his ass more. The star on the tree and the snow globe he gives to your wife are both decorated in his own image. At a point in his life where you'd expect him to look for a new job or go back to college, he acts like an eight-year-old because he's "young at heart". Looking for anything, any little silver lining in your situation that would make you just a little bit happier, you ask your son to bring you your Christmas CDs. Because standing up to get your CDs is too much work, he flicks on a children's toy playing electronic holiday jingles. Merry Christmas to you.

It's mostly because of Barb. Bob tried to sort Chris out and he tried to clear out the house, but because Barb was (and still is I imagine) a mentally ill pack rat she overreacted whenever he tried to do anything positive. Not sure if this one is true, but I heard that one time she threatened to kill herself if Bob wouldn't have left the house alone. Wouldn't put it past her. To a smaller level Bob was probably still maintaining the house, or in other words keeping it possible to navigate. But I think if Bob left them both many years ago he'd have been able to spend his final years more peacefully and Barb would have been forced out of her lunacy. Else they'd have possibly died in mountains of filth that even Hoarders couldn't film.

Little Bit Kids aren't responsible for their own well-being. Chris is basically an overgrown kid, and because he's either unable or unwilling to mature, Chris's parents, who are both very old, have to spend all their time tending to his needs. After watching this video, some things to REALLY take in: - Bob reads the card that has nothing to do with Christmas besides asking Santa for a boyfriend-free girl. When he gets to the love quest part, he promptly responds, "phooey!". -When Bob chooses the DVD instead of the VHS, Chris asks "really?', as if telling Bob he flubbed his line. - Chris gave HIMSELF a Christmas present! - Even if Bob insisted on keeping the DVD, it was already opened and used by Chris. - When Barb confronts Chris about Bob's gift, he tries to convince her that he "helped" Bob make the "right" choice. - Bob makes several deadpan comments about the presents, such as calling the Fraggles "Good old Fraggle people", feigning interest in the snow globe , and forced amazement at how fancy the Autobot is. - When Chris tells Barb the snow globe has a picture of himself and Sonichu in it, she sarcastically says, "Merry Christmas, Robert". Something I remember from a psychology class I took years ago: a good sign that a child is developing normally is when he or she gives a parent an age-appropriate present. This indicates the child understands that children and adults value different things. Meanwhile, Chris gave his parents a Hamtaro toy and a Fraggle Rock VHS tape.

The music playing at the beginning is perfect. I imagine Chris' house is like something out of a horror film. Wandering through rooms filled with junk, transformers and Legos, pictures of sonichu line the walls while somewhere in the background Chris lurks, rambling about them darn trolls. Then, after making your way through, past the cat skeletons, rotten leftover McDonalds and sextoys, you find Barb, hidden away. She is half crazed, screaming as Chris enters the room behind you, clad in full my little pony cosplay, unwashed hair atop his head. Notice how Bob and Barb didn't get anything for each-other and all of the gifts are either for Chris or from Chris. This seems to imply that by this point they're already pretty tired of Christmas; or at least just want to celebrate it in a much more casual manner the way old people do; but are forced to carry on the tradition purely for the sake of their manchild who refuses to move out and is determined to relive his childhood christmases every single year. Another possibility is that their relationship was by then non-existent and they were only staying together for Chris' sake, which makes this video all the more depressing to watch.

Charlotte Markowski also Barb and Bob were apparently sleeping in different beds and I think separate bedrooms as well. They had Chris in their 50’s (which is way too old to have another kid) because they fucked up with their other kids and wanna try again. They didn’t expect to have a kid with autism and they got more what they bargained for and was not prepared for it. When Bob saw Barb chasing after him at that bar that night, he should’ve told her to fuck off and left, he probably would’ve found someone better.

@typ0z4 жыл бұрын
This video is so illuminating to the Chandler family dynamics. What I find so fascinating and sad about this video is that the Chandlers are unfortunately trapped in a unique kind of hell: Bob and Barb likely want what any parent wants, which is to see their child grow and become a fully functional adult who’s happy and productive. They probably wanted to enjoy their golden years as well, and have a child of their four who still talks to them, and maybe have grandchildren to interact with... Chris truly was their last hope. However, quite ironically, Chris wants nothing more than to forever stay in his childlike dream world. You can even see this when he gets frustrated when his parents aren’t following the “rules” and having the “Merry Christmas” Chris is having in his mind... their tiredness and despair is exposing the cracks in Chris’ fantasy of a happy family Christmas where he’s still the kid everyone is fussing over. Ultimately, the real struggle is this, both in this video, and in their entire lives: Bob and Barb are tired of dealing with a man child, but realize they need to keep him in this childlike state because Chris can’t function in the real world, and he’s the only child they can come close to relying on in their old age. And Chris wants to stay the special child forever because the real world is only cold, mean, scary and harsh in his mind... all beliefs that are amplified by his parents paranoia. Yet there is a desire screaming deep within him to grow, to move on with his life, to get a girlfriend... a voice drowned by low confidence, poor social skills, enabling parents, chronic narcissism, and a sense of entitlement. For both parties, it’s a deal with the devil; a compromise that they each selfishly think will make them happy, but in reality, is the very thing making them miserable, and in turn, sacrifices their only chance of real happiness, both for themselves and their family as a whole. Bob and Barb need to let Chris go, and Chris needs to grow up. The story of Chris Chan, and this video in a microcosmic sense, is both such a tragic and mesmerizing story, because it’s about three scared, sad, and lonely people who play a cruel game of tug of war with each other, chasing dreams that they know aren’t real, or can never come true... Merry Christmas everyone.

The way that bob didn't even try to disguise the utter contempt he felt towards chris's love quest and how much trouble he had caused for them over the previous 12-18 months because of it is astounding but not as astounding as the way it flew right over chris's empty head. You can tell that bob would've loved nothing more than to throw the card down and rip chris a new asshole for even bringing it up and my bet is that had the camera and barb not been there he would've probably done so. The only thing holding him back was barb and even she looked like she wanted to slap chris in the face.

A VHS transfer of a Fraggle Rock DVD that was purchased for himself. (Another wash because you can tell he didn't want to give Bob the DVD version) In total he gave his parents $5 worth of junk to add to the Hoard. I think Chris bought the DVD and in the house it's likely that in 2004 they had one of those dual VHS/DVD players and he recorded the DVD onto a blank VHS tape. It looks like a recordable VHS and not an official release... Bob's "present" was essentially free and he bought the DVD for himself. And the broken Hamtaro is something Megan gave to him, then he gave it to his mom... This is why people say Chris is an asshole.

He didn’t ask to be born, and his parents are the reason why his life is in the shitter. He owes them nothing. If you are old and don’t have the energy to raise a kid, then don’t have a kid. Otherwise, they grow into a man-child and you get children’s toys for Christmas. Totally their fault.
@evenhartwick44226 жыл бұрын
the snowglobe is the closest thing Chris came to giving them an actually decent present maybe if it was a family photo of all of them or just a nice picture of him but no of course its gotta have a fucking cartoon character in it forever representing that in Chrises mind its always Sonichu > Family

Oh, I do believe they planned Chris. I think they both wanted a do-over at parenting. Thing is, they were shit parents the first time around and didn't see any need to change their ways. Bob's kids, though successful, wanted nothing to do with him, and Barb's son still wants nothing to do with her. Throw special needs into the mix, and you end up with this horrorshow.

And all of it just to ease their conscience. They failed to be good parents to their previous kids. But instead of learning from their mistakes and salvage what they could. They had to try again. Sure, Bob tried to get Chris straight. At least more so than Barb. But by then, it's too late. They spoiled Chris, constantly letting him get away with everything, and flat out refused to make him grow up. Indeed. This is their personal hell, and it was only going to get worse.

You have to read the entire CWCKI to really know the horror. It's an experience of hysterical laughter, horror, and disbelief. Nothing else quite like it in life. Actually the CWCKI is a bit sperged up now. Modern-day autists (the Kiwi Farms are nearly all autistic) edited the site, and didn't notice any of the jokes, the subtle humour, and the deliberate lies. So it's a lot boringer and a lot less informative than it was. The original trolls were just ordinary, if mean, people. Eventually most ordinary people lost interest in Chris, but the trollshielding autists still came in droves. Fucking spergs, they ruin every Wiki. There should be some way of keeping them out.

He always calls Bob Father and always calls Barb Mommy, demonstrating his begrudging and spiteful submission to him and his barely hidden infantile eroticism towards her. One day I want someone to do a GenoSamuel style documentary on this as if it was a book or long-form film, highlighting how good dialogue says a lot in few words, just two in this case.
