Sir how far I am from North you subtracted ...0.1 mile .. But you didn't started from their .. You started from origin ... Then how come that gives me the displacement to north ...kindly ans plz ..I am also a physics student

If you started from the origin and then you displaced towards north straight away far 1.0 mile then your displacement is 1.0 towards north. Why you subtracted 0.1 mile

Because the person also ran 0.1 mile south. North and south are on the y-axis. If you think on a 2d image, you go up 1 mile (north) and then back down 0.1 miles (south). Thus you would find the difference:. 1 - 0.1 = 0.9

Yes, because this is a very simple concept. You are just using Pythagorean’s theorem which is a middle school concept 👍🏻
