PSA: If you are the kind of ✨❄️ 𝒮𝓃ℴ𝓌𝒻𝓁𝒶𝓀ℯ ❄️✨ who is offended by someone saying Britain has a problem with racism, then it's time for some 𝖎𝖓𝖙𝖗𝖔𝖘𝖕𝖊𝖈𝖙𝖎𝖔𝖓 🚨CORRECTIONS 🚨: ✔︎ None so far! :) Spotted a mistake in the video? If you think you’ve spotted a mistake, leave a polite comment saying what you think is wrong and linking a legitimate source. I’ll check and if you’re right then I’ll add the correction to this pinned comment. :) ✘ I do not engage with corrections comments which are written rudely ✘ If you leave an essay full of corrections, I won’t check it because I have other, better things to do ✘ Bigotry of any kind will result in an immediate ban

This is a thoughtful video. Your advise at the end is exactly what I tell white people who ask me what they can do about racism. TALK TO OTHER WHITE PEOPLE. The more racist a person is, the more they ignore what black people have to say. Also, there are always other white people who disagree but don't speak up when a racist goes on a tangent, so you speaking up shows that now everyone agrees with Mr Lout Racist TM. Silence is read as agreement.

a lot of this i already did know, from other sources (I've been binging on documentaries), though extra sources are always good. That black and white minstrel show? In the late 70s? Lord almighty. Dunno if I'd heard about black-face by 1980 (I was only 3) but I don't remember ever not knowing it was a terribly racist thing to do. I know, there've been dumb "comedy" movies and skits later than that from the US, but they should've known better too.

See also: 1980's British Ska Music. A lot of it deals with Racial Tensions. The track "Why?" by the Specials (My Hometown Represent) Gives an interesting snapshot into Coventiran tensions between the White residents and the influx of Black and Asian immigrants in the 80's. Me? Well one my oldest friends is niether white nor originally English and was one of the best men at my wedding. Grateful my parents taught me to treat everyone as , well, fellow humans. But having lived through too many decades and having settled in various UK places.. yep, tension is still there.
