You should get velvet hangers!! I got some a few years ago and have never looked back! The clothes stay on them way better and they are skinny so they take up less space!

Yes! For heavy sweaters and jackets/coats, there are moulded plastic ones that are straight across with rubber pads built in the shoulders. Makes a closet look so much better when the hangers match. And most old hangers can be donated for use at the stores or resale.

So much fun! It’s funny how YT closet declutterers always start with “I’m going to be ruthless” and then it’s 100 times “maybe I’ll wear it.” Which is fine, it’s a process. But you were super clear-headed and decisive with your calls here, good for you for making more space for the things that are really you!

I did it one year ago (quarantine made me do it 😁) and it ended up whit 2/3 of my closet still all around my bedroom at midnight and me sleeping on the couch 👍 Good for Miss Kondo but definitely not for me 😩

to help with the wooden hangers you can add some hot glue in a zig zag motion to each side where the clothes hit to help from them sliding off! it acts as a grip!

that's a good idea! I like to wrap rubber bands around my hangers for the same purpose :)

I think taking everything out is a really good thing to do as well as take everything off the hangers and categorise into different piles. Makes the actual amount of stuff more visible and can help with actually getting rid of some things as you would have to put it back 😅 Love seeing you go through each item and explaining your thought! I need to go through my own wardrobe again as I only ever wear the same stuff and do a little bit of online thrifting so everything in my wardrobe makes sense and works well together.

A tip for people who dont know how to style stuff in the morning. Take out all ur clothes and then make outfits from what u have and save them for the upcommimg days. Then u will always have a cute outfit and even the clothes u dont know how to style u can experament with.
