The Luxembourg euro was issued across all the Euro zone on the anniversary of the European flag. A keeper because of the very low mintage.

even though it's seemingly the same design across all countries, these type of issues have some local flavor to them. in this case it's the holographic depiction of luxembourgish prince. other countries as far as i know have smooth surface of the flag.

I thought the Luxembourg 🇱🇺 €2 was a really nice and a super low mintage at 500,000 I also liked many of the other coins but too numerous to mention them all. Great stuff Christopher 👍🏻

Interesting comment on zinc coins. I've been told that they start a dull silver colour, and zinc coated copper coins tone quicker than steel coins covered in zinc. It is mainly oxidation. Zinc will react with the copper, other metal coins, even air.

About the Luxembourg coin, the monarch's face has to be by law in every Luxembourg coin, so when all countries issued the coin commemorating 30 years of the European flag, Grand Duke Henri's face was hologrammed into the flag. Same thing was done with the common commemoratives of 2009 and 2012 and I assume also with the Erasmus issue of 2022, but Erasmus' mintage is so low that (as far as I know) the coin is not found in circulation.
