As salamu alaykum dear brother I have 3 question if you could help: Was Lot a prophet according to jewish narratives? Are prophet innocent(cannot commit sins) according to jewish perspective? if yes, then how could Lot commit adultery with his daughters? Thankyou As salamu alaykum.
@blessedishashemtheg-dofisr73973 жыл бұрын
Aleikum Salam brother. You are asking good question. In Jewish sources there is not much about Lot. The Torah mentions him as the nephew of Abraham PBUH, but it doesn't elaborate whether he was good or bad. He spoke to angels that came to save him from Sodom ( disguised as humans) so I think that would technically make him a prophet. The Jewish sages comment that Lot was better when he was around Abraham. After he separated from Abraham, he declined spiritually. He was saved from Sodom mainly for the sake of Abraham PBUH. In any case, in Judaism a prophet still has a freedom of choice and can chose bad. For example, Balaam was a prophet and yet was wicked. So how did Lot do such a mistake with his daughters? I guess same way, Kain (who also spoke with G-d), did the mistake of killing his brother Avel. They were both children of Adam PBUH.
@ahmedazriel50973 жыл бұрын
Saltanat, salam alaykum, Lot did not commit adultry, his daughters did. They made him drunk so that he wont know and be aware of what his daughters will do. So its not honest to blame Lot for what hapenned. I hope you understand. And yes prophets are also humans so yes they can sin. Thats also mentioned in the Quran. For example: [Quran 21:87] And Jonah, when he stormed out in fury, thinking We had no power over him. But then He cried out in the darkness, "There is no god but You! Glory to You! I was one of the wrongdoers!" God told Jonah to go to Ninva (Northern Iraq) to deliver Gods message to them, but Jonah refused, and instead he went to the opposite direction (this is when God said over him "thinking we had no power over him"). So you know the story further. This is an example, but there are more. And remember, only God is holy. Everyone else do wrong things.
@saltanatparveen27023 жыл бұрын
@@ahmedazriel5097 brother there is a difference between mistake and sin. And I agree that prophets are humans but you have to understand that they are also role models for their people so it is true that they can make mistakes but it is certainly wrong to say that they can commit sin. And certainly Jonah PUBH didn't sin but he was impatient and being impatient is not a sin. And whenever the quran discusses the story of Jonah PUBH it does to tell people that you should not be impatient as he was, and it only highlights his mistake.
@ahmedazriel50973 жыл бұрын
@@saltanatparveen2702 brother, i think that what Jonah did was a sin. Cuz he didnt obbey Gods words. God told him to go to Ninva and deliver the words to them, but Jonah refused! Thats why in Quran God punished him, and God said if he wasnt sorry and asked me to forgive, his situation would be like this till the day of judgement, means he will go to hell. Cuz God is angry at him. ([Quran Chapter 37] 142. Then the fish swallowed him, and he was to blame. 143. Had he not been one of those who praised. 144. He would have stayed in its belly until the Day they are raised.) So why would God punish someone till the day of judgement for just a mistake? You say they are rolemodels, so in Jonah's story you can learn that when you do a sin you can be forgiven if you are sorry and ask for forgevenis. I understand when you say that prophets should not be sinners. Thats true, but they can do a sin or 2. That doesnt make them whicked. I hope you understand what i mean. Peace bro.
