I love that you are becoming more environmentally aware and are sharing that with us :) An easy thing to do it to take a reusable bottle with you and some kind of snack in a reusable pouch (so that if you are hungry you don't think about buying a plastic wrapped thing). Also trying to buy in bulk stores takes away the temptation from getting something that looks appetizing in a plastic wrap :) An easy think is also to swap out your toothbrush for a biodegradable bamboo one :) I think I will stop there now, but there are so many more steps, one by one they make a difference.

LOOVVEEE this Jess! Beeswax wraps are BOMB to replace serene wrap and stuff like that. I also store my reusable shopping bags in my car so I have them ready to go all the time. I also take old jars from like spaghetti sauce or pickles, clean the jar, then reuse the jar to store stuff like flour or rice! Thanks for being such a great example to our generation and the ones to follow.

I love that you are prioritizing minimizing waste! Something I did that has helped a bunch is create a “zero waste car kit”. It stays in my trunk and so I know wherever I go I have a reusable coffee cup, a couple mason jars I can use places. ( I’ve used it at Mod Pizza several times because they only offer plastic cups even when you eat in the restaurant) tubberwares in case I am at a restaurant and want to take home leftovers. My reusable bags and stuff like that. You can tailor it to you but that has been so helpful just knowing I always have something!

I folded a little reusable bag in my daily bag, whenever I buy something I always say no thank you to the clerk when I’m asked if I need plastic bag. Even if they don’t ask me and just put my things into one, I’ll say no thank you and give the plastic bag back to them and just use my reusable bag. I also always put my reusable straws set and chopsticks and spoon in my daily bag too. Whenever I go eat out, I always use my own utensils. And when I do buy fast food or take outs, I make sure I remind the clerks that I don’t need any plastic utensils. I’ll check if they remember or not. It’s just a lifestyle, not that hard, everyone should be doing these.

Some suggestions for your less-waste journey : soap bars, solid shampoo and conditioner, non-toxic refillable cleaning products and laundry detergent, second hand shopping when possible, recycling, buying organic, local produce helps the enviroment a lot as well!

I recommend Composting your food waste and tea bags etc. If your neighbourhood doesn’t have compost pick up, you can take your compost to Whole Foods and they will dispose of it for you. I found that composting has really cut down on my garbage 👍. I store mine in a brown paper bag and keep it in the freezer so it doesn’t stick in the kitchen. once a week I take it to whole foods customer service counter where they have a compost bin for customers and employees to use.

1. bring around collapsible containers if you’re getting takeouts or if you know the food place uses disposables to serve their food! they’re easy to bring around (like the collapsible cups you already have). 2. get utensil sets that are convenient to bring around (i’ve got one that has a spoon, fork and chopsticks in a box); i know some places ONLY use disposables 3. bring around spare paper/plastic/reusable bags :)

Hey Jess, I use bamboo toothbrushes that I compost the bamboo part of.... I use very natural skincare that is from local (small Australian businesses) ... I use a saponified oil soap bar, DIY Aloe Vera, lavender oil(5-10 drops) and water toner and a mix of jojoba oil (which I buy bulk and in doing so reusing the little bottle) and rosehip oil to moisturise my skin .... I have normal to dry skin but I am a teenager so I do breakout very little but that depends mostly on how much I touch my skin.

Jess, I love to see you become more environmentally friendly. Cutting on single use plastic is a good start, when you go out, you can bring along with you a metal straw, your reusable cup, water bottle and cutlery. Limit your meat consumption to once or twice a week (highly recommend the show Cowspiracy on Netflix). You can get free ranch meat and seasonal food from a local farmer in your area. I know it's part of your job, but I would also recommend cutting on cheap clothing, instead, shop at fair trade and environmentally friendly stores. Another show you can watch: The True Cost. Yes! Here is my list of fave reusable or recycled products: Keep cup (frank green is the best) shopping and veggie bags, menstrual cup (so good!) modibodi undies (instead of pads or panty liners) ‘who gives a crap’ toilet paper, ‘no pong’ natural deodorant paste, metal straws, The Dirt Company laundry detergent. All Australian brands! Next I’m definitely gonna try some reusable make up removal pads. Yay!

We have metal straws (makes life easier as the twins can drink through them, too) we have reusable bags, I use reusable food containers to batch cook. I try not to let any food waste, I bulk meals to make them go further and freeze. We try not to use too much water, our twins bathe together, we have baths (not got a shower) every couple days. Can't think what else.

Hey Jess! Another way I implement environmentally friendly products is bring my own cutlery everywhere I go! I eat out often, and I realized that I use sooo many plastic forks, spoons, and knives! I bought my own set on amazon (it came with chopsticks too!) and I bring them with me wherever I go. It's a little hard to get used to (much like when I first began using metal straws/using my own grocery bags), but you get the hang of it soon enough! Hope this was helpful! i'm pretty sure she does the same way i do (i think!) so you draw on your apple pencil on your ipad pro into procreate, make sure the background is png and export it as a png file, send to your laptop and import into your video! :) that's how i do it anyway and it's exactly the same x

Hey Jess! I don’t use twitter so I can’t leave you comments there but in regards to practical ways you can become more environmentally conscious around household and personal lifestyles, what I do is 1) shower with cold water because you reduce way more energy consumption that way 2) always only buy reusable ____ of what you need, sometimes you can even use what you already have at home (that’s the whole point about sustainability as well. Sometimes people have 10 coffee cups at home but use each cup only twice, that’s not the best practice.) 3) always buy household items in refill instead of new bottles (shampoo, washing liquid, etc) 4) cutting out dairy and meat consumption helps to reduce overall carbon emissions by A LOT 5) using bar soaps, conditioner, body wash helps to minimise and control waste quite significantly because you use only what you need and bar products cost way less and always have an organic or natural alternative than most bottle toiletries don’t 6) compost I hope this helps! For being a bit more zero waste my fiance and I always bring our own utensils, straws, and tumblers whenever we're out. I'm trying to bring my own container and a small bottle of dish soap (like in an empty hand sanitizer bottle). It's just a few more ideas if it helps. Take outs and fast foods don't usually provide alternatives to plastic. But I'm sure a small difference to your habits changes and helps a lot.

I changed a lot of more ethical bathroom products! For example, I use a shampoo bar instead of bottle, I use a safety razor instead of a plastic one, I use a bamboo toothbrush, and other things like that! I definitely recommend the Zero Waste Store, Ecoroots, or The Package Free Shop for any needs. :)

I’ve been using metal straws and making sure I wash everything before I recycle it because they won’t recycle things that have food stuck to them. If you do have any plastic bags, there are centers that will recycle them
