Hello! Watching Kris from Sew the Distance today, showed as an antique four patch quilt with a Seminole border. I did not know what that was. Thank you for providing the history and your tutorial. Lovely yellow print. Marion in Oregon. Jan. 12, 2024.

Made famous by the Seminole people of Florida and Oklahoma respectively. Give them some credit

Thank you for your comment my description has been updated with the following Seminole patchwork, referred Seminole and Miccosukee women as Taweekaache (design in the Mikasuki language)a patchwork style made from piecing colorful strips of fabric in horizontal bands. Seminole patchwork garments are often trimmed with rick rack border. Early examples of this technique are known from photographs in the 1910s, and its use by Seminole women in garment construction began to flourish in the 1920s. Seminole patchwork has historically been an important source of income for many Seminole women, and today remains a source of cultural pride. ( text taken from wikipedia)

Gorgeous….what is the measurement from the corner of the inside diamond to the edge?
@FaodailCreation Жыл бұрын
Just over half inch

Love this! What is the width of this strip after it is attached to the quilt (eg minus the seam allowance)? I have a panel I wanted to put a border on and this seems perfect for that. Thank you!
@FaodailCreation Жыл бұрын
It's 2 1/2" as is. So taking off your seam allowance it will end up being a 2 inch boarder. Thank you so much for commenting it helps my channel so much.
@WhiTor1 Жыл бұрын
Thanks very much! If I wanted to make it wider, being that I’m mathematically challenged 😂, I assume if I doubled the strip sizes, it would give me a four inch border? Eg the outer strips 4 inches each and the middle strip fabric 3 inches. Forgive the simplicity of this math question!! 😂
@FaodailCreation Жыл бұрын
@WhiTor1 I'm probably no better at math either lol. You could just double it like you said.

Thank you for teaching this technique. However: I don’t generally correct posts on FB, etc, but since you’re posting a tutorial, it should be noted that the correct spelling for this item is “border”, it “borders “ the quilt. A “boarder” rents a room in your house,gets on a bus, or rides a board.
@FaodailCreation Жыл бұрын
Lol thank you for pointing that out. I'm surprised I have so many views with the incorrect spelling too.

lol in Germany we say „who finds errors may keep them“ 😊, but search engines do calculate these slight errors, I drop/swap letters all the time and they put it right/ignore it, only if the word is really messed up they don’t find anything
