I'm so loving your videos , I totally agree that the experience of being in the environment where we are shooting pictures is equally if not more important than the end result , I too have changed my outlook lately , I feel less pressure to get " the shot" , if I don't get the perfect shot it really doesn't matter .... I'm out there , seeing , smelling , feeling , hearing the surroundings .... away from life's stresses . Its a privilege to be there . We should all take time yo appreciate it .

The robin was great. I often have cardinals nearby but not as near as the robin was. I agree with you about fall, it's my favorite season, as well.

I love our European robins; they generally aren't shy, they'll hop right up to you when you're digging in the garden. My special encounter was some years ago, my birthday fell on a (early spring) Monday, and as I was trudging to work past some neighbours' garden a robin sat there similarly close on an exposed branch and sang its happy morning song to me.

Hi Kim! I'm so glad you were photographing those Mute Swans, because that's what I've spent most of this afternoon doing! There's one particular pair of Swans that I've been photographing for a number of years now, down at my local mill dam. I must have well over a thousand images of these two along with their broods of cygnets. And aren't Robins wonderful? I've had so many encounters just like the one you had, literally feet away from me! They're so bold!

Kim, can’t tell you how much I love your channel. I find my most spiritual connections in nature are when I’m alone. Just me, the birds, the deer, the sun. The feeling is so hard to put into words, but you do a good job of conveying it! I had a moment this summer at sunrise in my local wetland where I literally thought- If I could choose the last sounds and sites at the time of my death, it would be these, and this would be heaven for me!

We used to have a couple of Robins that followed us around the garden. As soon as I went out to fill the bird feeders, there they were. One would often come into the shed to find any seed on the floor. One one occasion I had a Robin take some food from my hand. Always keep some bird food in your camera bag.

That cold snap at the beginning of October, really did set the leaves on fire down my end of the world. And then I started my run of ten shifts and get to see it all from a moving vehicle.😭😭 Hopefully there will be a bit of colour towards the end of the week for me to go out and play. Wonder if Blackpool will be as desolate as your little oasis of calm? Won't get my hopes up, but when life gives you lemons, view them from afar. 😂😂

The light in my part of Australia can be very bright and sometimes harsh but I loved the swan not only was the golden colour was so beautiful but the light was soft. Poets often use autumnal colour imagery to explore themes of transformation and growth. Just what you have been going through with your photography. Lovely photos as always Kim.

1:34 That's a fallacy. Switching ro APS-C mode gets you exactly the same result as cropping to the same aea in post. It's better not to switch, because then you can crop to some intermediate size and from some other area of the sensor than the exact centre. A D7200 would cover the APS-C area with 24 megapixels and there is your win.
@dianebouchard5691
@dianebouchard5691 Жыл бұрын
Although true you can crop in post, the advantage to switching in camera allows you to see on the spot if your composition will work or not. It is a good idea for folks who are still working on improving their composition skills
@oneeyedphotographer
@oneeyedphotographer Жыл бұрын
@@dianebouchard5691 I do not understand how you can think that. Composition does not have to e finalised at the time of capture. if you believe every good photograph fits the shape of your film or camera sensor, you have much to learn.
@dianebouchard5691
@dianebouchard5691 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you to a certain degree. I'm not suggesting that what is captured in the moment should be the finished product. What's wrong with taking advantage of features found on many camera bodies today? One of the reasons people follow Kim on this channel is because every once in a while, she'll dish out very good bits of information. For some people, that info helps them grow on their personal photography journey. The guy who doesn't own a fancy camera would appreciate Kim's idea on this video.
@oneeyedphotographer
@oneeyedphotographer Жыл бұрын
@@dianebouchard5691 I am happy to use features of cameras that are beneficial. I see no benefit to throwing away cropping opportunities or half my pixels in the field. I used to use a 5Ds, I was happy enough with the ability to crop later that my 80D got a lot less use. The 5Ds has 50 megapixels, the 80D 24, and if I did crop to APS-C proportions, I got 18. Canon DSLRs do not have a crop mode and I used to think that Nikon's crop mode was of some merit. I think that if crop mode is a useful feature then it would be part of Fujifilm, Lumix, Olympus cameras. It's not.
@dianebouchard5691
@dianebouchard5691 Жыл бұрын
@@oneeyedphotographer I see your point. Keeping in mind that switching to crop can be beneficial for some folks who benefit because of a limited range of lens. It all depends on one's needs versus what is available in the camera bag. Explaining the pros and cons of switching from full sensor to crop in camera seems more useful than discarding the idea right out of hand.
