@@datboi9539 YEEEEEEEES!!!!!!!! PREEEEEEACH! Seasons 6 to 15 is BS fanfiction. The show became a massive parody of itself with all the hack directors and writers they let in production. You could tell they were throwing everything against the wall, hoping something would stick and it never did. Seasons 1 to 5 is an absolute masterpiece and masterclass of a tv show, which is why Eric Kripke could make another hit in the Boys, with Jensen Ackles running as fast as he can to be back on his team.

This just seems so??? Real????? Like even without the small bit where they break character cause of Jareds prank, they just seem extremely real in this scene, more than usual. These two are absolutely amazing actors, and the writers are stunning with the realistic dialogue (like Sam's "alright, let's do Christmas or...whatever"). God this is perfect.

That's how incredible the writing was from Seasons 1 to 5. It was the creator Eric Kripke at the helm with his own writing and directing team and Season 5 was his original and ONLY ending. Seasons 6 to 15 is BS fanfiction that is a parody of itself

This episode can be appreciated many ways which is beautiful but it’ll always break my heart. The context behind this episode being that they are both coming to terms with Dean’s imminent demise and their time spent together coming to an end. It was already bad at that time, Dean was going to hell after selling his soul to a crossroads demon to bring Sam back to life. This is why Sam is not in the mood to do Christmas and it visibly hurts him and makes him uncomfortable. From his own words earlier in the episode when Dean admits he is such in a Christmas spirit due to the fact it'shis last year on earth, "I can't just sip eggnog, be jolly when I know next Christmas....you'll be dead. That's why I can't". The writing on Supernatural from Season 1 to Season 5 is truly unmatched

You could see how happy Dean was for his brother to participate in Christmas for him… but you could also see how sad it is because he was sooooo happy for once in his life that he was having a loving moment with his little brother. What I love about this episode is mainly for this ending. They’re not throwing a big party or inviting everybody they knew, it’s just two brothers who care for each other celebrating Christmas in a small motel room and giving each other not so-great gifts but still enjoying their moment together. Definitely based on the meaning, “It’s the smaller things that count”.

It reminds us that Christmas is never about giving/receiving expensive gifts that will burn your wallet, it’s about spending time with the people you truly love.
