Yes. It was loading and won't let you leave while it is. I don't know why this only happens at Firelink Shrine, but it does.

@@mateo0123 it is exactly that. the outside area only will load after you stand there at the fog wall for about 5 seconds.

@@Obversechaos - I think it's an efficiency thing. Most of the time when players return to Firelink Shrine, it is to level up or upgrade weapons etc. I think it's programmed to only load the inside area at first to speed things up, as only that part is needed for that. If people approach the fog gates, the game loads the rest.

big tip...explore everything and talk to all npcs before beating bosses...its easy to mess up npcs quests in this game.....after the boss you looted a npc that you could have talked to, he is not a big deal but others are like onion knight.

No need to apologize for your pace of play, I enjoy when a first playthrough is taken slow and enjoyed. Two helpful tips, look around Firelink some more, you might be surprised what you find, also check your inventory for another item Curse Wood Greattree boss dropped and read the description. Whoever says the Twinblades ruin the game ia an a hole. The weapons are readily available for anyone to play the game, otherwise Myazaki wouldn't allow them. Great fight with Hodrick. He's an npc you didn't find because you didn't follow the route you were supposed to, but don't worry, you might still find him. As for what he was using, it was a healing spell called Warmth. You could have used it too, because it heals anyone inside the light. You have a bow in your inventory, use L1 to aim and R1 to shoot. Curse Rotted Greatwood was a bit chaotic fight until you figured what to do. Great fun and plenty of jumpscares in this episode. Looking forward to next one.

Two. She missed two. There is another one where that caged guy is where you get the covenant and one is in the area down the bridge that she keeps talking about. So the (one you are talking about is actually the third one.)

The fog walls at the shrine are loading walls. Just have to wait a few moments near them to open up. Also, the Uchigatana is a great Dex weapon.

It's not a game changing tip, but you might want to change your blue ashen flask (the one for magic, which you never use) into an orange estus flask for health. You can change them at Andre anytime. And please use whatever weapon you want to use. Have fun.

Hey cam just use whatever weapons you want. Yes the weapon you started with is one of the best and it can easily take you through the entire game if you want because its fast, scales pretty well, and really uses weapon buffs to great effect. Another great video and you are having seriously speedy progression so far.

That is literally the way it is. :D humans are weird creatures. Some of them share their opinions with you; On everything; Even though you didn't ask; And when you point that out, they get mad. It's quite hilarious actually, once you stop taking it to heart. We could easily make a rational rundown about the disadvantages of certain weapons like the twin-blades. But as is with hypocrites, they won't be convinced by facts. So we can just safe time on that one.

Other people will have probably posted this already, but the fog wall keeping you in firelink shrine is just a performance feature. Most of the time when you visit firelink you don't need to go outside, so the game doesn't load that area. If you stand by the fog door for like 10 seconds (or however long it takes your system to load the outside), then the fog door disappears. The cursed tree is the only boss in this game that I actively dislike. The transposing kiln is definitely worth it, but the fact that it's impervious to damage unless you hit the weak points, combined with the fact that said weak points are often moving too fast to hit or are out of reach most of the time, really makes this boss feel more like a chore than a fun encounter.

Great video, I like the cautious way you explore. My only recommandation is : each time you make progress (beat a boss, enter a new area ...), you should return to Firelink Shrine, see if there is any new NPC and talk to everyone (including those you already talked to).

The Firelink Shrine sometimes has fog doors stopping you leaving because the outside area is still loading, that’s all it is really. They disappear after a short while. 🙂

It's something you can theoretically easily find out by yourself, but at the same time it's super easy to just overlook completely and never notice, but it's also really helpful to know this, so I think it's fair to kind of soft-spoil it I guess: wielding a weapon in two hands applies a multiplier of x1,5 to your STR stat for the purpose of meeting requirements. In your case with STR 10 you'd be considered having STR 15 for wielding two-handed weapons. So you only have to meet the STR requirement directly if you want to use a weapon one-handedly.

Hi. I believe you can't leave firelink shrine directly like that because the devs don't expect people to do it often so locked it off for performance. I think eventually it loads and you can exit but warping outside is quicker. Most of the people are just warping into other areas.

Not spoiler. For using items in estus slot, when you have multiple items in that slot and want to cameback to estus for healing. Hold down scroling button. D-pad arrow down button, is clear enaugh. It's hard to explain when writing. It will instantly shortcut to first item in that slot. Also works with spells slot.

Do you recall when you fought the nakey man with a katana in the beginning? He drops his weapon. Because he fell off the cliff you couldnt see the drop. If you return to the area after sitting at a bonefire the item will return where he was.

They're dubbed Winblades, because yes, they're OP, when you know how to use them well. Also, think of the smoke walls at Firelink Shrine as load screen. Why the devs placed it there, I still don't know.

They're definitely overpowered without a doubt but that's not the only issue with them, they're also the most overused weapon by dex builds. It's amazing how many players end up using those stupid Twinblades for thier entire run through the game, because they never find anything better because there isn't anything that's better!

Your PC is fine, there is a random hitch/stutter that was introduced with the patch that came out last year to fix a security issue that Fromsoftware hasn't gotten back to correct yet. It's annoying.

Not sure if you know that, but you can realocate your flasks with Andre. You got a blue flask but dont use spells. Ao make sure to go to Andre and put one more yellow flask and one less blue flask 😁👍

Hello. Since you've already defeated the boss it's not that important anymore, but you missed the bonfire. You can find it by jumping off the stone bridge where enemies throw fire bombs.

Have beat sekiro, dark souls 1, and Elden ring (played ds2 and had enough of the fat clumps of enemies) gave it a break and started ds3 and it’s been great in comparison 😁, your only 3ish hours behind me but good luck 👍

Play the way you want, Cam. Every weapon is overpowered in the hands of someone who know the game and the weapon well. Ignore the complaints...if it bothers them that much, then they could provide spoiler free hints to a good dex weapon you can access. I know i wouldn't mind a good hint for my play through until i get the weapon i fell in love with when i saw the game th first time. 😂

the twinblades are not op, people always get mad when a lets player beats a boss on their first try, strength builds are way more op. twinblades are good for speedruns since they kill bosses fast, but strength builds or even just picking the knight class is both still way easier to play, the twinblades require pretty much perfect gameplay and the other weapons do not since you can use a shield then and actually can stagger enemies. also the twinblades dont have the highest dps either, sorceries, pyromancies and miracles all do. the twinblades are used in speedruns because they get strong quick and dont require questlines to upgrade since you already have them and can just use titanite, sorceries/pyros/miracles are all still better if you put in the effort of getting them. anyone who thinks the twinblades are op has watched one ds3 speedrun and now think they know everything, without having actual experience in the game. in general what most people dont understand: whats used in speedruns is all about using whats fastest, hence the name, it does not really use whats best or easiest to play. this is what i think of the twinblades: they are good if you only run from boss to boss and dont have the time to pick up and level different weapons, if you do actually pick up every item however they are one of the last weapons that i would use, because they are not that good. at least not compared to the actual good weapons and spells that you can pick up. against hodrick we saw one of the issues with the twinblades already: they can easily be parried, for npc invaders its best to use a weapon that cant be parried for obvious reasons, shes lucky this is only the weak version of hodrick, against the other version every single parry wouldve been instant death. my 2nd big problem is that they deal pretty much no poise damage, any big knight type enemy will basically become a boss since they will never stagger. if you use a greathammer you can just r1 spam to victory without taking a single hit, in that case you become the boss and they are the dexbuild pretty much. also your twinblades will bounce off shields, i mean the list goes on and on there are so many reasons not to use them, also they have really small range which is also huge, having good range is really important as well, for example if you are surrounded by enemies having no range will be your death, so your weak to gankfights which any ds game loves to throw at you. also they become only good once you used the sharp gem and are at 40 dex. its basically full glass cannon, gotta dodge every attack or you die, enemies dont stagger, enemies can parry you, your attacks bounce off shields, your range is super small so you have to be careful not to whiff attacks and your weak to ganks which are super uncommen in souls games as we all know and you have no hyper armor so you are super easy to stagger as well, but they deal good damage i guess so its all good, even tho other weapons deal similar if not more damage. and spells definitely deal more damage. during the curse rotted greatwood fight we see how bad low range can be, with any longsword or katana you can easily reach all of the weakspots, with the twinblades you cant. to be fair against all other bosses the twinblades perform alot better tho, in general terms the twinblades perform best on bosses but poor against regular enemies, so if your not doing a speedrun where all you do is kill bosses, they are not that good.

In the dark room where you defeated the Cursed Rotten Tree, next to your bonfire, there's a dead NPC. You can talk to him and get items that jfrom him before defeating the Tree boss (as he's dead after the fall of the Tree). The person that helps you get there stays next to that cage that talkrd to you, the cage was referring to a guy carrying a cage where you could get in and be transported to the dark room of the fight before the fight against the Tree 😂

Killing Hodrick grants you access to the second best Quest line in the game and the cat ring. And this quest line is the most fun. It is fully focused on action and combat no bullshit but the fights are really intense. Nowadays it doesnt take any effort but I remember the first few playthrough I sucked at those but somehow managed.

Don't forget to summon Mad Phantom Hodrick in Crucifixion Woods. He is near that wall where two crucifix hollows are, pretty close to bonfire. Also that area you are looking for is where those mice are. The key is for 2000 or 1500 souls ftom shrine handmaid.

Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3 are both my favorites. Souls 2 was decent, but not the best from the trilogy

That's what I've heard from others too! I also think DS2 was decent, but it was just a little slow to me. I'm enjoying DS3 a lot more since it seems more fast pace :D

I love two but unfortunately it has a serious lack of properly communicating enemy actions to the player + ADP makes everything feel clunky imo

Stop listening to others on what weapon to use, almost every weapon are OP when its upgraded just play how u want it to be... For it to be more natural
