Drugs in this era changed perspective and ways of thinking. Def some interesting things to come out of this time and these artists, but A LOT of their work is just randomly hoping to strike gold and get paid. Take any 5 random items in your house and do something weird with them and you’re qualified. Keep evolving this over 3 decades and you’re a professional artist with a unique vision.
