I also find York to be a breathtaking city; the history is ..........? I can't find the words. The minster is really mind blowing, especially for someone from Canada and someone who has never left North America. I've watched many documentaries about the city so I am very familiar with it but it is much better being shown from the view point of someone's personal video camera. Thank you Terri and Lol! ♥

Hello Terri, a very interesting video thank you. I enjoyed visiting York my maternal ancestral home area. My family history traces back as far as Medieval Briton, some Viking ancestry too. As most families in Britain, I agree with you, buildings built and made to last, a skilled job keeping up with the renovations. I like the smaller church St Michaels in the square, it has a hushed tone to it in the peace and quiet after the bustle of The Shambles, the energy is calming. I enjoy the Viking history and the various reenactment groups, here in the Northwest. Chester 20 minutes away by train is another ancient city that has seen its fair share of battles and religious warfare. Thankfully we aren't condemned or fined for our preferences in that regard, we owe a lot to our ancestors. Once again glad you both had a great trip and worthwhile event that you attended. Hugs and Blessings to you both.💚🌹

@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Yes just one year here and on to an altitude of 130 ft instead of 4,500 ft. Which my heart will thank me for. I will also be able to get seaweed for garden and no snow and freezing temperatures plus rain. Gardening will be so much easier. Leaving 12 trees a plot of grass, and extensive veg/herb garden for new owner. Changed a piece of neglected parched earth in abundant life. New owner bought for the "charming" garden".

Thank you Terri for another lovely video. My husband is from Sunderland, his parents have both passed away now, but when our daughters were young we used to visit them every summer. We visited York a few times, it truly is a gorgeous place steeped with history. I love visiting stone circles etc but my second great love of history is the Vikings, and the Jorvik centre is brilliant. Did you know that the famous Dick Turpin is buried in a small graveyard in York, we visited his grave once, and his cell. The Black Swan that we had our lunch in, displayed his body in the window after they hung him!, apparently wealthy travellers were still wary of travelling the route from York to London so they displayed his body to prove he was dead. Xx

The Jorvik Centre is brilliant - so much knowledge held by the staff. I knew about Dick Turpin's connection to York but was disappointed to find out that he was an actual thug and not really a romantic highwayman. But who knows for sure??? xx

Great tour and I love York! There may be older cities in England and it may just be me but no other place in England to me has the tangible feel of ancient history, of the spirits of the ancestors as York has - almost like a portal or spot where the veil is thinner.

It is a special place, AND, I discovered, the Mother Goddess was extensively worshipped there in the past. Statues and images of a mother goddess were the most common artefacts found. Lots of premises boast a ghost and English TV did an article years and years ago - when some work men were digging the road up, to lay gas pipes or something, lots of them saw Roman centurions. I think it is definitely a place where the veil is thinner - it has that timeless quality. Have a great week Mike xx

Thank you for this video. It’s funny I was just thinking I still have a t-shirt I bought in York 30 years ago this summer. And then in the video I saw a sign for that very shop (Shared Earth) This video has made me want to go back and revisit York.

LOVED York when I visited there a few years ago: one of my favourite places in the UK! Your video tour brought back many happy memories, so thank you! What a tragic story about Margaret. So much pain caused by supposed “Christianity”. 😢

Yes what other times would the minster represent..but good honest men built the minster and the women who serviced them and thats a good way to see it and just as Margaret stood for what she believed in such times were challenging and to be brave was remarkable and so courageous ...Guy F how he paid for his beliefs....love your minster stair experience L The Yorkshire Rose is White.

@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Absolutely but how brave and courageous those people were and they had to pay such a price ..also i feel its because of such acts of brave determination we are [relatively]free today but then that doesnt include everyone which is so sad.. so perhaps we /i have to also stand up and be counted which i try to do but there are so many external influences that try to manipulate society to meet their ends materialistic and controlling...just as in Margarets day but less openly brutal l but still underhandedly so. so its in the small things that i stand like Ireland Yorkshire too has its profound foundations of beauty

Kudos to yourself Terri, and Lol, for this lovely video. I have watched dozens of YT vid's on York City to try and get a 'feel' of the place, and compared to this video, they failed miserably. This is the best I've seen.
