A visitor's guide to Wroxham, Norfolk Broads

Who wants to keep the Broads all to himself then? I've been visiting regularly from the midlands since 1976 and even keep a boat there now (used to rent, then trail). Whilst there is an element of truth in this video Wroxham is no more a tourist trap than most holiday destinations and has much, much more to offer than one would think after watching this. Why not keep an open mind and visit for yourself the finest wetlands, wildlife and boating area in the UK?

Please tell us what the 'much, much more to offer, consists of. I've been going to the Norfolk Broads since 1967 and was in Wroxham and Hoveton last June and there wasn't just an element of truth in this video, it was all true. Food outlets that don't rely on local business are rarely as good as those that do and there are a few there that wouldn't survive without the one visit tourist. In defence of high (tourist-trap) prices a lot of the businesses have to make their money during a fairly short season but that should not result in bad food.

Nope - I am too honest for that and let people know exactly what they are letting themselves in for if they decide to visit Norfolk.

Having been visiting the Broads since 1965 and seeing the changes I would add that this guide is fairly accurate but what it fails to say is there are worse places on the Broads in every aspect. Scary eh? Try Potter Heigham Bridge to be really disappointed. The Broads generally is being run into the ground and what has happened to the Southern Broads will certainly happen to the Northern if nothing is done. We stayed in Wroxham for Christmas 2016 but you would't have known it was Christmas on passing through. The only places to acknowledge it were the charity shops and the Art and Glass store. Roys had 4 dead Christmas trees put up high hoping nobody spotted them but having a week there we did. All very sad really but greed and discourteous people do this to everywhere. The Broads were our favourite holiday of all but after September 2017, our 36th holiday on the boats, no more.

It's not Wroxham or even Wrexham it is Hoveton ,pronounced 'hofton'. What is this guy trying to say ?

I think my video says it all........................ I am fully aware the side of the bridge with all the shops and amenities is actually Hoveton (there are a couple of ways to pronounce it - at least I have heard a few variations from the locals) but then given Roys calls itself "Roys of Wroxham" (and this is actually on the Hoveton side of the River Bure). It's only the pedantic locals that refer to this side of the Bridge as Hoveton - everyone else calls it Wroxham.
