Sangeetaji- I recently came across your “video log” on the Dadar Parsee Colony neighborhood in Dadar (East), Mumbai. My compliments to you for a very well researched and insightful professional presentation. It helped me take a stroll down memory lane as I was born and spent my formative years there. One may be surprised to know that the Zoroastrians share many similarities with our Vedic Aryan culture. From what I remember, almost every street in Dadar Parsee Colony ended with a park. The streets were full of trees and greenery (and each street had a specific botanical species of trees.) The place used to come alive beautifully in different seasons. It may surprise many to know that The Dadar Parsee Colony was featured in “Architectural Digest (India Edition) Magazine, which is internationally considered as the ultimate authority in design.” I was happily surprised to see that your walk took you to Jam-e-Jamshed road, as my family lived there from 1960 up until early 1980s and my school "The Dadar Parsee Youths Assembly High School @ Firdausi Road. I (and my brother) studied in The Dadar Parsee Youths Assembly High School. My sister studied in JB Vachha High School for Girls close by. My family relocated to USA after I completed my high school education. I have fond memories of the Dadar Parsee Youth Assembly's Snack Centre located in Perviz Hall, Jam-e-Jamshed Road which was named after the late daughter of Parsee Philanthropist Mr. Jehanbux Tarapore. Since you mention supermodel Ms. Mehr Jesia, you may be surprised to know that Jam-e-Jamshed road was home to four famous international celebrities: Aruna Sairam (Carnatic Classical Music Singer who now lives in Chennai), Reita Faria ( former model and the winner of Miss World 1966 beauty pageant and first Miss World winner to be qualified as a medical doctor, Former Indian Wicket-keeper batsman Farrokh Engineer and former national champion and international Squash Player Meherwan Daruwala.) Barring a few cosmopolitan venues such as the Sohrab Palamkote Hall (beautiful vintage hall where I recollect attending several weddings), the Mancherji Joshi Memorial Hall and the Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana, the rest were only for Parsee community use though. It’s been almost four decades since my family relocated from Dadar Parsee Colony and India. My love for that place motivated me to write a nostalgic essay of my childhood memories of DPC, the similarities between Zoroastrianism and Old Iranic religions with our Vedic Culture, how they came to Sanjan, India and were allowed to settle down in Gujarat, DPC's streets, The Five gardens, now defunct businesses @ Khodadad Circle, its famous institutions, and my school among many other memories made there, to share with my friends, relatives and old neighbors.

thank you for your prompt response. I see that you have uploaded your travels in your you tube channels. My family and I will definitely view and learn from your travel experiences, especially the one to Kumbakonam which is my ancestral hometown from my paternal side. BTW , DPC is known for it's Irani Cafes. I hope you enjoyed their Brun Maska, Mawa Cakes, Pastry Samosas and other delicacies!

Amazing vlog Sangeeta ji. I just wanted to know can a non parsi visit the dadar parsi colony even if they don't know anyone on the inside? I myself am very interested to research on the Dadar Parsi Colony but i don't know anyone who lives there. So will I be allowed to go in the colony?

Oh yes. You can go there. It is a public space - just not allowed to enter the Agiyari. Thank you for your kind words!
