Welcome to Thailand, I am so happy you enjoyed Loy Krathong and Yi Peng. I caught myself smiling when your lantern lifted off into the night sky. Thank you for that beautiful moment, I felt a heavy burden was lifted from my heart with your lantern! Loy Krathong and Yi Peng are celebrated in the 12th Month of the lunar calendar, when the river tides are at its highest. This is due to the waters from mountains of norther Thailand reach the river, and the moon is close to Earth, it's like how certain cultures celebrate the equinoxes, Loy Krathong and Yi Peng are kind of linked to geological rhythms of the land but tied to the moon and monsoon, since the Thais sometimes also call themselves an amphibious culture. Hello! Thank you for your videos. I find them helpful. Is the crowd manageable during the festival week or are the tourist spots super crowded and stressful esp for the elderly? My mom had been wanting to go to Chiang Mai and Im thinking of bringing her this year but unsure if it would be okay to time it during the yi peng festival. It's magical as shown in your and others' videos but if Chiang Mai is just too crowded (yi peng areas and other tourist sites) then i might reconsider going another time. Appreciate your thoughts.
