In January of 2000 or 2001, I saw a guy get run over by a boat near the alawai. He was hit in the head. I swam him to the little beach at the end of the 800 pier and called an ambulance. I'm sad it happened again, but I'm so glad no one was hurt this time.

Shame on your Hawaii News Now, do your research before you give publicity to such irresponsible acts. Hawaii Fishing Regulations clearly states: DIVE FLAGS Spearfishers and other divers must mark their position with a dive flag while diving in navigable waters, and may not surface more than 100 feet from the dive flag except in an emergency. Dive flags shall be displayed only when diving is in progress, and must be removed from the water when no diving is in progress. Dive flags displayed on the surface of the water must be a minimum of 12”x12”. If mounted on a vessel greater than 16 feet in length, dive flags must be a minimum of 20”x24” and displayed with a blue and white alpha flag. See also HAR 13-245-9 (DOBOR). This is not a new or unknown requirement. DLNR should make an example of this person and in full enforcement fine him per the fullest extent of the law and regulation

You sir have apparently never been properly introduced. This is Hawaii. It's what California can only aspire to be in all respects. California has gay pride. In Hawaii gay sex is mandatory. You can only opt out by being homeless. The only people exempt are the native Hawaiians.
