I know it does not affect the sound, but the dropdown menus are the default JUCE ones haha, not a lot of effort put into this. Still nice that they release this for people that don't want/need hardware cause it's a very cool synth

haha that's what I thought as I was opening those menus. funny to come across vst's out there still using some of those stock assets. for a small solo developer it makes sense, but here...man. but yea man, a good alternative for folks who aren't in the hardware-verse. it is a solid sounding synth

Hmm. It's a lazy bit of coding especially for the money! Dialogs opening behind main windows. Don't even animate the wavetables when you are playing. I still bought it ...sucker!

What's so cool about blofeld? I liked microwave vst... But I feel like a stock synth from any daw will do much better job than this one.

The pie chart type knobs are also typical JUCE… I wonder why they chose them, the look so incredibly ugly

In this week's instalment of expensive plugins that I don't need but I now really want 😛 Keep up the great work man! And make sure to let us all know when you get an affiliate link for the Korg Triton plugin! Edit: Nevermind, watched the full video and do not want to buy this one! A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one!

I hear the largo is the same, but I wonder how much different this is from it. When I released my album in 2016 I used the largo for my song on that album, it's pretty gritty and growling-like, which is what makes it interesting.

Thanks again for your review Thought forms even though I had already bought the plugin on release day based on the sounds presets and being that this was my first Blofeld which I wanted from years back. I went back and recheck your videos on the Microwave and decided to treat my Bloleld VST the same as the Microwave and program just like you did with the Microwave and I'm getting some good results. You really inspired me to programming my own sounds and understanding synthesis and sampling. I have one request if you could go into the sampling aspects which I hope the vet can get some decent results similar to the triton and m1. Thank you in advance. Wow you were right!!! Microwave sounds great and way better.

oh shit I've been thinking about getting a physical blofield for years

lfg! the table-top variants are a killer deal on the used market - and the keybed on the keyboard version is really nice. but with the VST version now here i'd 100% just go the VST route unless you're doing some type of outboard setup

I enjoy your videos. Thanks for making them! Gotta agree with you here on Blofeld VST. While I can see this being of use to Blofeld hardware owners since (like MicroWave) it can act as an editor/librarian, I don't really understand why Waldorf is doing these very strict emulations of the hardware (like, I think this only supports a few user wavetables, if it can even import wavetables at all?). There doesn't seem to be a trial version, so I can't really even test that out. It's very... 🤷♂

Im tryna get my hands on the wavetables and just use those in vital 🤔

I totally agree, Waldorf nailed it with the Microwave Plugin. I personally love the Blofeld sound and jumped on it pretty quick when I heard they released the plugin. But - oh my god, you can count on Waldorf to make some absolutely baffling and frustrating design decisions, just look at Largo 2. I’m not going to lie, I'm a little disappointed at its current state and I hope Waldorf addresses the current issues. But I have to say, I just love the sound, especially stacking sound in multimode and utilizing the increased voice count, which was one of the biggest drawbacks of the hardware.

Largo 2 is such a clusterfuck of an update, charging that much for what is essentially a cosmetic upgrade. There are higher priorities to address with that VST, not just having an alternative Dark Mode. It can be so much better.
@mudi2000a4 сағат бұрын
@@daeryxaqueryxthe Largo2 preset browser is also very sh*tty. I demoed it but did not keep it because the usability was horrible. I have the Microwave on the iPad and that one is really good, probably I will also get it on PC some day.
@daeryxaqueryx3 сағат бұрын
@@mudi2000a Yes! It's so disappointing that the browser's usability is still so bad and clunky, and even the first Largo had the same usability problem. And they wanted money for an update without solving Largo's most important issues? At least Microwave is a very good VST with excellent patches on it.

Wasn't the Waldorf Largo already some kind of Software Blofeld?

i always lusted after the desktop version of the blofeld, but the menu diving and the reported encoder issues of the hardware unit put me off buying it, as soon as i heard theres a soft synth version it was a easy purchase £129 from plugin boutique. dont care if people think its pricey, its my christmas pressie to myself.

You could just get the Q roms off their site and an emulator.
