I love these little English villages. May they never lose their old world charm. Thank you.

Thank you for commenting. I hope they don’t get swamped with modern housing.

I went to school at Market Lavington Comprehensive, my dear mother started school in Easterton, her Comprehensive school was actually the library (briefly shown). The old scouts hall was where the library used to be before 2020 ( pre-Covid ).

Thank you. I enjoyed watching your walk through 'my' village. I am the volunteer curator at the museum , so thanks for your kind words about the museum and for publicising our daily blog. There were a couple of buildings that were misidentified, so let me know if you want to know where the department store and the Neate's Brewery tap actually were! Best wishes, Sue.

Hello Roger, I think you remember my lovely mum Chick Hull? It was nice to get a glimpse of her bench near to the church in this video.

An excellent video ending in The Muddle New Street where I have lived in the 1930s cottages since a child. I have certainly seen some interesting changes in that time especially since our long front gardens became a car park!

A nice walk and commentary, Roland, and most informative. I pass through Market Lavington regularly, but there was lots to learn here.

Im trying to find out why it went from being a town to being downgraded to village status. What halted it's development or continuation of being a town?

I was hoping you was going to take a right at the roundabout by the 2nd church into Fiddington Clay where I grew up. Have a lot of fond memories

I also used to live down that way in Melrose Close. Finished St. Barnabus and moved up to Lavington Comprehensive.

always funny to see something so close to home. hit them where it hurts calling them a village

Many towns have been downgraded to being called a village. Property developers love doing it. 😀

Many have over the years as fewer people go to pubs. Right now, they are closing at an alarming rate.
