Isn't it great that old movies like this can still be captivating. I'm sure much has changed since you made the piece but it has a magical quality now. Maybe being shot as a silent film had something to do with it. Whatever, this is a smashing record of the past and worth preserving.

Thanks Rob, this was shot on 8mm video, transferred to VHS, then on to DVD and finally to here. There was a sound track, but the wind was too prominent to keep it on here....Regards...Bob

we take the campervan and park on the long car park overlooking the beach, it is beautiful there. Its become one of our favourite places to visit. This film is a revelation to us, we have chatted with many of the locals about this, what an excellent piece of film Rob! The people of Bury Port are some of the best you will ever meet.

yes passed by burry port last weekend for 50th birthday,we took a train trip from Newport to tenby passing through Burry Port,I still miss the droning sound of power station long gone,I also forgot back in 89 CB radio played a big part of Burry Port fun,listen to boats carry them onboard and talking to them on Tenby runs from Burry Port Harbour.My Gran even had a cb radio in Tan Yr Bryn house and I had a cb on bike to stay in touch,mobiles phones were reserved for Big Corporate people back then lol. Just rewatched this video again,I can see me moving back to Burry Port one day even though my grans passed away years ago,just love the place and people. Take it easy Rob,Bob :)

Superb Bob. That brings back memories to a lot of people. That power station we remember from holiday trip when visiting the Mumbles. How the harbour has changed. but some of the old land marks are still around. (C&A)

Interesting to see The old Power Station Bob....Things have certainly changed in 25 years...I was surprised how many people were at the Harbour walking around, i wonder if it's like that these days? Great to see this video...imagine if you had your X920 back then !! best wishes ..Steve.

Thanks Steve, this was taken on 8mm video transferred to VHS, then on to DVD before processing onto here...so the quality has suffered. The crowds were there to see the fishing competition, but on fine Summer evenings, there are still quite a few to be seen down there...Best wishes...Bob

Great clip, nostalgic as you say Bob. I don't think I have seen the 3 chimney power station since back in the day, when I may have passed by train. If I remember correctly it underwent demolition in 1991

They finished the demolition in 1992 Justin....Thanks again for taking the trouble to watch...Bob

It was interesting to see the activity going on in the harbour. Sad that it is going downhill due to neglect of the harbour by the authorities. Still a n ice walk along the waterfront though.
@robmasterman Жыл бұрын
The biggest mistake was putting the lock gates at the Harbour mouth Paul, as years ago, the twice daily tide washed out the debris, and vessels could enter or leave the Harbour when the tides were high enough. The whole Town is much worse than it was a few years ago, with the wonderful floral displays. Thanks for your comments.
