About 12 years ago, my youngest son and I went on a hike in the Adirondack Mountains to get some pictures. We lived on the edge of the Adirondack park and I decided to get off the beaten path and check out a trail that was less known. We were in the Black River Forest area and after several miles we reached our destination. I wanted to get a decent picture of the lake we hiked to but the foliage wouldn't allow it. The only open spot was on a bog. It was late and the light was starting to get low. My only chance at getting the shot I wanted was to use a fast lens and a tripod. I had to wait for the bog to stop moving before I could release the shutter. After all those miles and finding our way back in the dark, one pic taken from the bog was the only keeper.

Sphagnum is mentioned by the narrator, but no species are shown in focus with the species captioned. Only vascular plant species get that treatment. Why?
