Very nice mate. I was born in Reading at Delwood Nursing Home during 1938 & resided close to Caversham Bridge until marriage during 1966. As most other places since the war, there have been many changes, so for me, it is not quite the same as when I was growing up. Enjoyed the trip down Oxford Road, brought back many a legging to the dear old Elm Park football enclosure, something else that has sadly gone. Loads of cinemas, my local over Caversham, Regal, Glendale, all the outlaying areas had them, the Rex at Tilehurst, Savoy Whitley, Newtown area, Granby at Cemetery Junction. I could bore you with loads aey old smoltz. My people were actually from Woking so I have the distinction of being the only Reading boy in the family. Soon after demob from National Service during 1962, I was fortunate enough in meeting my eternal sweetheart & eventual wife who happened to be a Woking girl (Marilyn), at least brought up there. We made our home between Guildford & Aldershot in 1966 & were married for close to 56 years. I obviously regard Reading with much affection but Marilyn was the most wonderful thing that ever happened to me over all other joyous events I experienced in both towns I have mentioned.

Nice walk around Reading but can i point out a few errors in your titles. You start the walk in Broad St not cheapside (cheapside is at the opposite end of town). Fair St is in fact Friar St named after Greyfriars church at one end leading to St Lawrence's church at the other. Station Rd is Station Approach and Balgrave St is Blagrave St.

There’s a bloke in his Luganda and night shirt right at the beginning. Otherwise everyone’s pretty normal.

How far is it from London to Reading?
@Debiescorner8 ай бұрын
It's not far at all, depending on what part of London, but usually between 30-1hour train journey 😊
