Beautiful story! The man received such an amazing blessing because the amount of charity he gives is enormous and Allah praises people who give in the sake of Allah in the Quran like in surat al-baqarah Allah says : Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over? And it is Allah who withholds and grants abundance, and to Him you will be returned. (245)
