I just recently discovered Anthony De Mello’s teachings and I feel so blessed! I’m Catholic and I cannot believe the church had warned of these teachings. We all need this!
@nobodyreally2 жыл бұрын
Glad you found your way to his work. :) Some of what they said was "incompatible with the Catholic faith and can cause grave harm." I thought was brilliant & disillusioning. 😆 "Not all the works of Father de Mello were authorized for publication by the author himself. Some were published after his death based on his writings, or on notes or recordings of his conferences." I question why they continue to publish and sell his material after condemning? One of these publishing, claiming to be "in His Own Words" Has been twisted in some places (*edited), not being what he said at all. Changing one word in some instances, or leaving out a word, could make something come off as questionable. Just one example. In the begging of the book: Awareness - A de Mello Spirituality Conference in His Own Words. (Published after his death) It is written: "Do you think I am going to help anybody? No! Oh, no, no, no, no, no! Don’t expect me to be of help to anyone." (page 6) In reality he said, "Do you think I'm going to help anybody? Oh no, no, no, no. I don't expect to be able to be of help to anyone." kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJvNZZqhntCDkM0 Editing "I don't expect to be able to be of help to anyone." into "Don’t expect me to be of help to anyone." conveys a different message. This is just one example.

Anthony de Mello, before he died in 1987 admitted that all truth was in the Bible., after reading all about; Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism, he found the way, the truth and the life., His last book;” THE WAY TO LOVE THE LAST MEDITATIONS” Is all about “JESUS CHRIST “.

“Prayer is talking to God, meditation is listening to God.”It’s so important to give tips for “busy people” who think they don’t have enough time because that gets them in the door to meditation! Then they see the results and can see that cutting out tv or waking up a little bit earlier is worth it to keep the meditation thing going. He is really a great teacher.

There are three stages in one’s spiritual development,” said the Master. “The carnal, the spiritual and the divine.” “What is the carnal stage?” asked the eager disciples. “That’s the stage when trees are seen as trees and mountains as mountains.” “And the spiritual?” “That’s when one looks more deeply into things-then trees are no longer trees and mountains no longer mountains.” “And the divine?” “Ah, that’s Enlightenment,” said the Master with a chuckle, “when trees become trees again and mountains, mountains. ❤

The irony is that it's only a loving God that allows suffering, that sacrifices His Only Begotten; a loveless God would never do this. In any case suffering is temporary, everything is swallowed up in the redemptive power of the atonement of Jesus Christ.

Jesus may be a wayshower but he couldn't take you into heaven. Accepting the belief that because he was crucified & died isn't going to save you. You must pay for your own sins until you correct them. It is Your Own Responsibility though a devil would lead you astray having you believe otherwise. “Scripture doesn't give us a picture of God, doesn't give us a description of God, it gives us a direction. Because no words can give us a picture of God. In my country, India, let's suppose I’m walking towards Bombay. And then I come to the signpost that says ‘Bombay’. And then I say, ‘Well, what do you know, here it is, Bombay!’ And I look at it, and go back. And people say to me, ‘Did you get to Bombay?’ I say, ‘Oh yes, I got to Bombay’. ‘What is it like?’ ‘You know, it's like a board, painted yellow, and there are words on it, one looks like a ‘B’, one looks like…’ Do you see that? I missed the point because that signpost isn't Bombay. In fact, it isn't like Bombay at all, it isn't a picture of Bombay-it's a pointer. That is what scripture is-a pointer. In the East, we have a saying, ‘When the wise man points to the moon, all that the fool sees is the finger’. Imagine that I am pointing to the moon, and I say, ‘Moon’. And you come running up and say, ‘Oh, is this the moon?’ And you're looking at the finger. This is the danger and the tragedy of words … God is a mystery … unknowable, unintelligible, beyond the mind … We use the words of scripture to go beyond the words and to attain silence.” - Anthony de Mello
