​@@michellea9857yeah, spend a ton on the ceremonies. Like how can a grand wedding be beneficial in the long run? Sure if someone is financially well off, but for most just signing a marriage license and a simple ceremony with a priest should be plenty. Whatever is saved from a cheap ring and simple wedding could be used for a mortage, even a child's college fund.

She was often unkindly referred to as '4x4' - hence the reference to the bride having a string of passionate relationships that somehow didn't last.

The bride's niece is confusing the saying "a guest of her majesty" (which is slang used to refer to someone who is in prison in the UK) as literally meaning "being a friend of the queen." In other words, the bride's ex-boyfriend is in prison and the niece is (inadvertently) offending the bride by repeatedly calling attention to the fact that the ex-boyfriend isn't in attendance at the wedding because he is (most likely) still in prison.
