A WEEK IN JAPAN 🌸// lots of food + thrifting

ig- @jaschann photo spam ig- @mienchann art ig- @novchild.jpg - hey there, it has come to my attention that there are many against the animal cafes that i went to with my friends. we were not aware of the conditions of the owl cafe that we went to prior to paying for the entrance fee. my friends really wanted to go to one. it was also the closest one to us. in tokyo, there are so many animal cafes, and only some where the animals are treated right while a lot are just used as a way to earn money. it wasn’t until when i entered the cafe that i noticed how small the cages were, and especially how the otters should not be kept in such a dry enclosure. especially the guinea pigs, we are all aware that males and females should be kept separate etc. however, i do not think it is shameful to call these animals cute, as that was our first reaction. by vlogging this and putting it online, it is also a way to raise awareness of the conditions that they are being kept in. we could also tell that the meerkats/hedgehogs/ animals that were being held were very stressed. i know that i showed it in a bad way, because while i felt very bad for them, at the same time, i couldn’t help but think they were very adorable which is how i showed it, and i apologize for that. while we were planning to go again, we decided against it due to the conditions of the cafe. from an animal welfare point of view, it wasn’t a great idea to go in the first place. due to this, i’ve been reading a few articles on the animal, especially owl cafes of tokyo (and other parts of asia) and i’ve learned that there are much better alternatives to owl cafes there such as parks where they live freely in nature instead of being chained down to something. on the other hand, the shibas in the shiba cafe we went to are taken care of well and they seem like they love their animals a lot. i am well aware of these factors, and next time i travel i will try my best to not visit any animal cafe next time. my apologies!
