@@lilyliselotte7384 I would suggest buying lots of scotch tape lol as you will be using a ton of it for pattern making assignments. also, time management is very important. The first week of school was tough because of the workload then it escalated into more on top of that. I procrastinate for two days and it became overwhelming.

I graduated from Blanche Macdonald, in Vancouver, in fashion marketing last summer and going back to school for costume design in the fall. This video got me so pumped lol I was looking at Ryerson but ultimately chose Capilano u. I worked with a few Ryerson grads in film I heard its a great program!!

Would you say pen sketching (via tablets or 2in1 laptops) is more comfortable than mouse sketching (via laptop)? I'm a soon to be a fashion designer student but Im also studying media and communication so Im into editing too. From all the research I've done, Apple products are preferred for design(they appear to be much more superior in graphics and functionality) but why do i feel like touch screen and pen would be easier? I'd be so glad if you'd take the time and share your opinion /advice with me! Have a nice day :)

Practice. Get some drawing lessons, I reccomend Zoe Hong on KZbin she's amazing and learn how to draw fashion figures then croquis, and then watch videos on how to illustrate fashion, Zoe has tutorials on all of these. Univeristy of Fashion which is a month subscription also has tutorials on sewing, pattern cutting, drawing fashion etc. I'm not the best at drawing fashion either but I'm practicing daily and I can see improvement! Don't be discouraged if you don't get drawing a fashion figure the first time, it takes time to draw things well so keep on practicing daily even if it's just 20 minutes and you will see improvement! marianne natasya probably something like art is a pro but where i went they didn’t have any specific subjects you had to follow

marianne natasya it’s more important that you build your own portfolio which doesn’t need finished products but maybe things like sketches/drawings of your designs. They’re probably really interested to see what you are about so just make a lot of artsy shit and show it to them!

tuition is about $6000 and ya there are a lot of other expenses throughout the year! it really depends on how much you wanna spend on your materials :)

Holy shit that’s so expensive! College/uni in the netherlands is about 1400-2000 euro’s (1600-2300 dollars) and we get money from the state to help pay for it (uni can only borrow money and pay it back over a period of 30 years with no interest) + free public transport either on weekends or weekdays.

This is crazy. She doesn't even know any terms, or what shes saying she supposedly did. Here's the best tip you'll ever need. Forget about all the BS they tell you need in class and to draw and color and make crazy designs. Just look at whats selling in Target and Walmart, (who obviously spend millions to know and have current trends) and learn to make something similar, if you want any chance of ever making any money ever. People did this way before there was any classes. Why make a design maybe 3 people will like, when you can make a design that 100 people will buy? Thank You!

I'm not in fashion design Michael :) thats why I am unaware on terms, frankly I am never going to sew again in my life. Fashion is not just about mass production-- if thats something you want to do in your career, great for you! But for the people in my program and myself, fashion is an art form. If you're good at your craft, people will buy it and appreciate it. Success is not made on following what everyone else is doing and Ryerson Fashion does not teach us to be like everyone else! To each their own.
