One of my favorite things ever was discovering furoshiki some years ago. I live in the Deep South. We have a Japanese couple in our town who owns a sushi place and she is so welcoming and has a fun sense of humor. I wanted to do something nice for her so one day I went there to eat but I had made homemade matcha cakes, packed them in a cute bento and wrapped in a traditional furoshiki cloth I ordered online to give her. She was surprised and impressed. Never underestimate the power and kindness of something homemade wrapped in furoshiki 😁
