We have been using Krone Tedders in 6 or 8 rotor versions for 19 years in heavy crops in Ireland. They are reliable and like all Krone products well built. They make an amazing 16 rotor version

Hey Wes, the 9670 was made from 2008 to 2011, the 70 series is one of john deere's most reliable combines before the computers got way to involved. Great machines, but most have over 2500 hours now. I just parked mine for the year with 3K sep hours, oh the agony of looking for a newer machine now.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Great video, impressive combine. Was really interesting to see the inside of the combine. Might make an interesting camera shot to see it in action if possible. Have always heard if you are doing something you love, you will never work a day in your life. When I started my dream career, the first thing a friend would ask me whenever he saw me was, is it work yet. Gladly for my 30+ years it was only work for maybe a few months scattered out in individual random days. Wishing you and your family the best.

Grease the rotor and variable header sheves and rollers often, and slow down/speed up through the entire range to get that grease worked around and allow it to run in a new position. Make those parts last a long time. Man William is growing up fast... soon you'll have to get him a grain cart to chase you around the field with.

You're right. Farming is dangerous business. The most dangerous part is sharing the road with citiots. I think one of most dangerous machines I ever used was a corn picker. There were a lot of guys around here with a hand missing and just about every farm in my neck of the woods had one.

I got a story just as bad.... This was back in around 1987.... there was a near neighboring farmer. he was going out to go get some green chop with a gehl flail green chopper... he went out to chop and his young son was out playing again another 4 year old... he was playing in the hay feild and fell asleep. You guessed it he came along and didnt see it till it was too late... he was never right the dad after....... Are you gonna run the old combine this year wes?
@jvin248
@jvin248 Жыл бұрын
Every time I see a hay farming video with someone running a tedder I kinda cringe, it looks like they nearly beat the leaves off the hay so you end up baling mostly stems. I grew up with the five roller bar rakes that in comparison seem much more gentile on the hay. I assume tedders are much less expense to buy and the only other option are the vertical disk rakes that may not be much better than tedders in retaining leaves.Have you ever run side-by-side tedder vs other options and compared leaves (and thus bale yield)? Similar analysis to putting a ring on the ground to count corn/soybean kernels to see what the combine is losing per acre.

You mentioned you bought it at auction and you got it super cheap somehow and that the auction house tried to back out of the sale. I am just curious as I am sure a lot of other are as to the details of the purchase such as the price you were able to get it for and how they tried to back out of the sale and how you ultimately prevailed.
