My gf works in a bank; customers are being particularly whacko, though there are fewer of them. So many junkies though, but at least the rules on how many can be in the branch at any one time means security can boot the crazies out more easily or stop the ones screaming from coming in.

The ironic thing is that the breakfast is like the tinned Hungry Man All Day Breakfast covered in the "week on tin". Difference is in the tinned version, it has a longer shelf life, has potatoes and mushrooms in it and costs a quarter of the price!!

I make my own salsa (including proper canning), kombucha, lacto sauerkraut, lacto onions, jellies and jams, chutneys, and already had big stores of various essentials before the pandemic hit (primarily because bulk buying saves money in the long run), from toilet paper and handsoap, to a large selection of varieties of dry beans, lentils, and grains. So, I'm quite fortunate that my canning and fermenting hobbies are actually really useful right now...and that I'm meticulous in planning and frugal in expenditure. I was already unemployed, so I didn't get the giant system shock...other than not being able to go out and do my long and winding walks. I'm a bit antsy, but that's it. I do imagine that cannery will probably become a larger interest now than it has been...as will home cooking in general. No non-medical business has been hit harder than proper sit-down restaurants...well, travel and hotels too. I don't know who all is in the same boat as I am. If this were an actual apocalypse related to like...war or a meteorite or eruption, I would be able to share some beans and sauerkraut, but everyone's a potential vector, including me. I also understand food banks not wanting people to donate homemade canned goods...a lot can go very wrong. And, while foods that are still actively fermenting are pretty safe in general (it's pretty easy to tell if a food you are fermenting isn't fermenting the way you want it to), the containers they are in can explode if not seen to.

The large round thing is Egg beyond the Heaton track supply meal to the British military for there ration packs on the freeze try food I find if it says 300ml add a little extra boiled water about 25ml and it makes it a little easier to eat

That beef shepherds pie is rather contradictory because a shepherds pie is normally made from lamb and if it’s beef it’s a cottage pie. They could have called it something like farmer’s pie LOL

The Nerd movie makes Ashens and the Quest for the Gamechild look like a 300 million dollar Hollywood production. @10:16 If you find a freeze-dried meal to be dry, you just need to add a little extra water to loosen it up. That's my experience with them, anyway. @13:43 Freeze dried ham does that sometimes, you get an almost fishy kind of taste off it. Never understood that myself, honestly.

Joel all the ingredients have been freeze dried in their natural state. Freeze drying removes all (or nearly all) of the water making last a long time (can be up to 25+years) without needing to add anything else to it. To prepare it you need to rehydrate the food by adding hot water.

I lost 3kg in a week as i couldnt get a booking slot for my usual online groceries. No toilet roll, all substitutions or unavailable. 4 weeks now with no meals. The delivery driver had received abuse from customers he said. Facing not being able to eat for another 2 weeks because of these greedy swines that hoard toilet roll and go out in mass to the beaches. Living off twixes and coffee and normally I'd avoid that

Yeah I usually order groceries from Amazon Prime Now because they deliver in 2 hours but they've had no delivery slots for over a week. I was able to order from the Walmart Grocery app instead but so much stuff was out of stock and the delivery slots are all 2 days later when it's usually next day service. Edit: I've been living off food delivered by Uber Eats & GrubHub in the meantime.
