This is like a truly marvellous episode of Frasier set to music. Brava Beverly.

Beautifully written and performed. Makes me wish I had an IQ.

The choral singing in this number was really excellent: the performers' diction was ultra-crisp, so that a person who had never heard the number before would understand almost every word. Sondheim's lifelong love of puzzle-solving is evident in much of his work: he constructs intricate lyrical structures -- verbal origami -- which put enormous pressure on both his interpreters and his listeners. But they always yield immense rewards in return.

It's too fast, rushed. I love this song and the cast but this is like they're sprinting through - I'm out of breath just having listened to it.

But that is the pace that Sondheim set it. A very good presentation both vocally and visually.

letrahisondesimages: Why are you him “Miss”? He had a strong masculine baritone voice instead of the usual tenor.
