It's so true, you have to roll with how you're feeling and it's terrific that you demonstrate self care and honesty about it. I look forward to your vlogs etc because of your honesty and candidness. 💜 My mom is 85, she stopped crocheting but I might teach her friends at the home she's in, and I'm hopeful she'll join in too 😊

I always love your vlogs, but your chat about knitting with your grandma and mum really got me teary. My grandparents died when I was quite young and I remember my grandma sitting and knitting in her chair making me things (which I still have), in exactly the same way you described your grandma knitting. She died before she could teach me to knit and it’s the KZbin community that got me and keeps me into knitting so a massive thank you for being part of that. It’s amazing that your family share such a love for crafting and the joy that knitting brings you all. Thanks again for sharing a peek into your weekend good and hard times. I look forward to the next podcast and vlogs 😊

Hearing about your experience with mental health and neurodivergence felt like a warm hug. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety, and I have been slowly learning about how they affect my behavior and mood. I’m getting better at recognizing when I’m having a lil crisis, what might have triggered it, and what I need to take care of myself. It’s hard to re-learn yourself as an adult, but it’s so worth the work to have a better life. So thanks for sharing, it’s nice to know I’m not alone in my journey ❤️

Laura, I loved this episode so much. Thanks for admitting that sometimes we need a break from a clingy kid, which I'm familiar with. I loved that you told your coach that you aren't interested in being weighed or measured. Honestly that boundary had never occurred to me but it's brilliant. Also thanks to you, I have pizza with ham and pineapple on the way.

Laura, I really appreciate how open and vulnerable you are with us. When we only see the happy side of other's lives it can make us feel so alone when we have down moments. Thank you for being real. I can't wait to see how your Christmas tree turns out. And I do so hope that your Grandma keeps knitting.

Omg! This! From P picking her nose to her telling you daddy shouted at me, from the kids fighting in the back ground to you gushing over your gran knitting ( which made me all e mosh with the footage at the end) from your absolute honesty about being triggered by the sudden change in plans and how you dealt with that. THIS!!!! This is life and THIS is why I love your content. Keep being you Laura. Your fecking rock!!!! ❤ Ps ally is awesome, her girls are amazing and Dan is equally as funny. Xx

Laura, have you heard of the book The Highly Sensitive Person? It's not about being sensitive emotionally, though that can be part of it. It's about the 25% of the population that is extra sensitive to a number of things ranging from noises to fabrics to contact lenses to physical touch and on and on. It was a game changer for me and I think, at the very least, it could be interesting reading. There's a quick questionnaire at the very beginning that's fun too. Love your openness (and your knitting 😊)

There are all kinds of ways to approach getting a healthy body. My focus for years now has been walking, and yoga for core strength. My mom had a bad fall at age 80, and part of the reason she couldn't get up (for much too long!) was lack off core strength. That was a light bulb moment for me. I'm not wanting super toned, but I just want to at least be able to do a sit up when I'm 80 or 90. And hopefully a lot more!

Loved the vlog - thanks for you candour, my son is also very high functioning autistic and the insights that you give in your videos actually help me understand him better, even though he has been diagnosed for more than 25 years. I’m doing the MKAL too. And like you I’m not even trying to keep up with the clues and hype. Just taking my time knitting on it when the mood strikes but also on the other projects that I have on the go. It’s not because I’m not enjoying it but rather life has enough stress at the moment and my knitting is supposed to be stress relief. And I think that’s okay.

I have had a very tight lower back, for example, I couldn’t sleep on my tummy anymore since my lower back feel uncomfortable. With my Physio therapist, I realized my running and cycling had made my thighs so tight(since I wasn’t stretching🙄). So after 6 weeks of doing the cat-cow and doing some diligent quadriceps stretches. Like the couch stretch, always keeping your abs contracted to prevent strain on your back! Not a medical pro, but just thought I’d share. Love the music, btw

The yoke looks epic! How do you divide stitches for back arms and front? All my attempts have so much bunched up fabric at the back :(
@_laurapenrose_
@_laurapenrose_ Жыл бұрын
Hmmmm I’m not sure why that would happen unless your putting more stitches in the back than you are the front. The only other thing I can think of is if you blessed with an ample bosom! I’d you’re choosing a size to accommodate a larger chest, often if the pattern hasn’t been graded with in built shaping you can end up with a baggy back as though the overall circumference is catered for, it often doesn’t take into account that bigger boobs doesn’t always mean a bigger back as well. There are things you can do to create better shaping but I haven’t not researched that though there are plenty of resources if you google! If that’s not the issue then I’m not sure what else I can suggest! X
@TheNikkie29
@TheNikkie29 Жыл бұрын
@@_laurapenrose_ sounds like grading has been the issue then, I have a bigger chest and tummy, and also bigger arms but not so much on the back :/ could the stitches be divided with just more in the front or would that affect the arms/need more complicated shaping?
@_laurapenrose_
@_laurapenrose_ Жыл бұрын
@@TheNikkie29 I’m not sure if that would work, but again this isn’t my area of expertise. I’m sure there are blogs and videos out there though from people who have been through all the trial and error! X
