A Welsh MTB Bikepacking Adventure | The Brecons Bash

With the Welsh mountains calling, myself and friend Fin set off on a two-day mountain bike bikepacking adventure across the Brecon Beacons. We followed the Brecons Bash route, starting in Merthyr Tydfil and heading into the Brecon Beacons National Park, passing The Gap, Brecon and Llangorse Lake. Here we wild camped, enjoying a beautiful sunset over Llangorse Lake and the distant Welsh mountains. From here, the route went into the Black Mountains, going over Y Das and down the Grwyne Fawr Reservoir, before finishing in Abergavenny.

Ooh nice, go for it! What route changes are you making? It was a brilliant ride, but definitely a lot more walking than I thought!

@@CeriMiddleton Looking at my route it is quite different. A circuit starting and ending at Hengoed, Up into the hills after Abercynon, across Hirwau, through the mountains to Brecon, past Talybont Reservoir, down and back the start.

Is it possible to get a train to the start or a short ride from a station?

This really looks like a great trip and planning on doing this soon. Great video and inspiring! Do you think the route is within a gravel bikes capabilities? Also were you guys using tubes or tubeless? thanks mate top stuff

Cheers, thanks for watching! Definitely recommend it 👍🏽 Lots of the sections might be a bit rocky for a gravel bike - most of those sections weren't in the video as I was too busy holding on (didn't have a helmet mount). I had tubes but my friend had tubeless
