[Colorado] The area settled during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush in 1959. Silver was discovered in 1964 and later became the main source of income. Over 3,000 people lived in the area around 1880, but today just over 1,000. Georgetown is full of historical buildings and is well worth a visit. You can cover the historic district in about two hours if you walk around. The most popular thing to do is to take a train ride up to Silver Plume. It will take 1hr 15min round trip.
