Thanks for the heads up on the women's pattern. Your son looks very handsome in his though.

So sorry they didn't work out for you Karina! They looked really good where they were resting on your hips...but I definitely know what you mean! (desert animal, LOL!!). i've only made one pair of them and like them (I'm that rectangle shape!) but I left the bottom cuff off. They look AWESOME on your son too!
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
I’ve not given up on these and will be unpicking the waistband to create a “yoke” to lengthen the rise. All fun and games. I used to rock the low rise in the late 90s and what made me think I could now I’ll never know lol

Thank you Karina for another great tutorial. Agree totally with your comments. By the way your son is already a young man and as such knows what he likes best. I think you have to sew a lot of joggers for him in the future.

He totally has his own aesthetic and it’s great 👍🏼 and I’m happy I can make the style he likes in appropriate weather for the heat here 🥵. Thanks for watching 😊.

Karina, I agree with you about the comfort and fit. I have never been able to wear a hip hugger (as they were called when I was a kid & tried to wear them). My adult daughter's prefer this lower rise style & only feel very comfortable in them. Thanks for the great tutorial. Take care and God Bless.

I’ve worn the low rise in the early 2000s when I had a different body shape. At present I enjoy slightly below the natural waist, like 1” under. I’ve already figured out how I’m going to fix these ones!

How disappointing! I agree with you, I wouldn’t wear these out in public either. They don’t even look comfortable to me. I’ll stay away from that pattern, thank you for the heads up. I love your son, he’s so funny.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
I think they’d be fine with 2” raised. The hips and legs are perfect. Since I have the pattern already I’ll go in there and modify it eventually. I’m so happy they work for my son 🥰

Karina I see exactly what you are talking about! I personally don’t like the low riders either! I will be making the men version to work for me they look better😀

This pattern does seem to be for a younger silhouette. I guess a fail happens to best best of us. Often, I still get the fabric-pattern match up a little wrong. We have similar body types and I’ve been happy with the joggers in Tilly and the Buttons stretch book.

Another great video!!! I don’t like waistlines to be anywhere other than at my natural waist. It really limits my choices of patterns. They look great on your dear son though!

I actually like midrise just below my waist. I’ve found that to be most comfy for me. I need to experiment and when I find the fit I like, I’ll stick to that pattern. Thanks for watching 😊.

Thanks for the video. I too prefer a mid-rise and had thought of buying this pattern, I'll have to keep looking.

These would probably work for someone with a short waist. I don't have a long torso . Another great work.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
It’s the smaller waist/hip ratio that makes these ok but then the drawstring is essential. Sadly, not for me. When I was younger and was more rectangular I could use the low rise that was the rage in the late 90s and early 2000 😊.
@GingerheadCo5 жыл бұрын
That's a great video Karina! I'm sorry you are disappointed with yours - but you might have just convinced me to get the pattern (I am yet to find a pattern that would fit me...) as I love super low waist bottoms ❤️ thank you very much for sharing, Alex x

Wow your's really are low rise!! My (adult) sons love the Hudson pants and I've made them lots of times. I had thought to buy the women's but now, no way.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
I think the rise would be a bit higher on a shorter person too , but still lower than comfort allows. Lesson learnt. At least my son’s are a HIT :)
@SlapHappyRetirement5 жыл бұрын
I think both pairs look good but wearability is paramount with joggers! That waistband would slice through my stomach bulge, so uncomfortable! Even though I'll probably never make joggers as knit fabric is really expensive in NZ I got a lot of tips watching your video, so thanks!
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
I agree! I paid $20 meter for simple ITY in NZ and it was ridiculous:( Yes the waistband is very wrong for me and I’ll be tearing it off and adding a “yoke”’ to lengthen them. So uncomfortable. Thanks for watching 😊.
@charlenejutras15955 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing this- the joggers would not flatter my shape at all with the low rise- I have another jogger patter that I have downloaded (5 out of 4 patterns- Diane Jogger) that I am considering, but I think I will measure the rise first. Always love your videos.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
I measured but had no point of comparison to a jogger that fits because I have no joggers and I never find measurements in knit drafting to really reflect the fit. That’s why my preference is woven. The measurements are more absolute there 😄
@halesmoore5 жыл бұрын
I remember reading blogs about this pattern when it came out that it was really low.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
Yeah silly me 🤦🏻♀️ i read them after I tried on the pants. I usually do loads of research for woven patterns but for this one I just went with it oops 😬. Goes to show that knit patterns need all the extra precautions too. Thanks for watching 😊.

Martin's Hudson pants look fantastic-can't believe how tall he is now! I like the fabric yours are made with, but agree that it's not a style that suits you and wouldn't suit me either. 🙄 Looking forward to seeing how the Brassie joggers fit is. I have a wish list for several Love Notions patterns so I shall be using your link to take advantage of the sale.😊

I’m Excited to try the Brassie joggers. On the quest! Once I get the fit I like I’ll be so glad. I used to use low rise in the late 90s and early 2000s when I was a gangly Gal 😄. Thanks for watching 😊.

Maybe change to a wide yoga waistband and then you can save them.... thanks for sharing... as they look good otherwise:) sons too
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
I was thinking to add a “yoke” type piece to lengthen then and make it look intentional and then a curved waistband on the top. If I make an extra long waistband for these, it would need to be so so long. It’s a lot of space 😊. For sure I’ll do everything to make them wearable. Thanks for watching 😊.

Jalie, the French Canadian patterns have a pant with the large band or yoke at the waist. They have great videos on KZbin, no speaking just wonderful pictures of each design area.

Big win for your son's sports joggers. Let's face it - its a miracle he likes them. Thats the way it is with kids. It is so great you found a winner pattern that he will wear. Now you need to get a few more pairs made for him as they are in the wash a lot. Sorry yours didn't work out, but have to say I have seen girls wearing that style and they hang down. Move on to other things you will like better.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
I’m on the quest for this same style but that hits me just below the waist, I’m also not a fan of high high rise so will experiment. For know I think I’ve cracked how I’m saving these to be wearable 😄. Seam ripping time he he
@christinesmith73915 жыл бұрын
Hi Karina. Your son looks great in these! I think you’ve got to be skinny and under 20 to wear a low rise successfully! Great sewing though. 🤗
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
I used to wear low rise exactly at the age you mention as it was the rage in the year 2000 😄. Now it’s a no-go. Lesson learnt. Just because it works for many it doesn’t mean it’s for me. Onwards and upwards.
@chrischristian084 жыл бұрын
Hi Karina. I’m not sure you’ll even see this but I just watched because I’m making these for my tall skinny husband. I can’t find ready mades that fit him properly. Do you think the women’s pattern varies enough from the men’s to buy both? 🌺
@LiftingPinsandNeedles4 жыл бұрын
It’s varies in the rise and shape of the crotch. I couldn’t use the men’s one as it would not fit my hips. I much prefer the joggers from GreenStyleCreations. I have a video about them here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4STZX2Xe5eGgKs

His look fantastic and yours look great with you top out but very uncomfortable. The low rise is why I have not bought this pattern. If you can demonstrate how to adjust them I might give it a go. Would the male pattern be any good on a female? Is the length suitable for a tall woman?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
I would rather try the Brassie joggers first that have the low-mid-high rise option first before modifying these. I already have the pattern. The male pattern is described as dropped crotch so I don’t think it would be a good look for a woman, in my opinion. These have a lengthen/shorten line I would’ve used had I chosen full length.
@laurahovey391 Жыл бұрын
I’m making the women’s joggers as a present.I have the persons measurements (waist and hips) but the pattern doesn’t suggest an elastic a length based on size or measurements. How should I estimate the correct length?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles Жыл бұрын
I use the waist measurement minus 2-3” to get a comfy but snug fit.

Hi Karina, The men's version may fit better on you?🤷🏾♀️ I never did care for low rise trousers. Looks like they worked great for Martin though and he even has room it looked like to grow into the length, so that's great. Well done.

I used to wear lower rise and loved them when I was younger and gangly. Silly me that thought I could pull that antic off now 🤦🏻♀️. Lesson learnt :)
@tufornumberone Жыл бұрын
I don’t know why they made this pattern so low rise without an option to go higher. So many people have had issues with that. Even my 20-something daughter who is slim and petite has a long distance between her chest and hips. She couldn’t wear this either. I adjusted the pattern but still need to go higher. I generally have to make so many adjustments to patterns that I didn’t really think about the hassle of it but most of the videos I have read or seen on this particular pattern either comment on the low rise or show the finished product that to me, looks unwearable. Thanks for the video.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles Жыл бұрын
I think the low rise thing is a style that the designer prefers, or preferred back then, because the pattern is quite old. I managed to fix mine by adding a huge front and back yoke. I still see loads of people who like the low rise look of the early 2000s lol
@GingerheadCo5 жыл бұрын
