Great vlog Trev l was thinking of doing the same thing on my boat, but l hadn't thought it completely through ie brass screws and inserts but you've helped me thanks 👍

I have never seen it done before, but I can tell you it works darn sight better than the plastic I have covered the windows with before.

Brilliant result and very well executed. As you've already discovered it'll make a big difference to the boat temperature overnight. What about maybe putting a little container with some moisture catching crystals inside before putting the perspex on. Would help preventing any further condensation forming from residual moisture.

That sounds a great suggestion. 👍

The gap is not that big, and I did find that after a couple of days of sunshine they have stayed pretty dry. I will keep an eye on it and if things go bad I will see what I can do. Thanks for the suggestion.

As always, well planned and completed! Anything that saves firewood is worth the time and effort. Safe cruising!

At time like at the moment I am only burning coal, so they make a huge saving. I hope to be moving again by the weekend, I now have all my orders from Amazon, but heavy rain forecast for tomorrow so another day or two before I move. No point in going to the woods when it is pissing down, as I will not use a cordless chainsaw in the rain.

@TrevsTravelsByNarrowboat No! Could make for a shocking result! Last few days I noticed a couple of NBs showing the swollen rivers and canals after too much rain. Stay safe out there!
@TrevsTravelsByNarrowboat14 күн бұрын
@@deskullz7409 I stay on the canals during the winter. Regular canals do not flood. It is on rivers and canalised rivers that normally flood.

You wouldn’t think that a little bit of plastic would make much difference but just the draft exclusion is fantastic 👍🏼👍🏼

It is basically double-glazing. It is 3mm thick which is the standard thickness of window glass.

Clever Lad Trev, drilling the holes all at once...imagine juggling those round next year to fit. You'll soon get your money back saving on the heating bills..excellent 👍🍺

Yes, drilling all the holes the same, means they will go anywhere next year. The difference is very noticeable.

Looks good and practical except the loss of ventilation or do you just open doors.
@TrevsTravelsByNarrowboat16 күн бұрын
The kitchen window over the sink I have not done, for when cooking. As for ventilation there are plenty of vents in the roof and the doors.

Putting a backer helps prevent cracking on the backside ( blowouts) alternatively using a round soldering iron or hot nail will do it also.
