I'm starting the breton as we speak as he's now developed a pattern, so I'll keep you updated! Me and Aine love doing it. Well... I have just binge watched all of your videos...and am left waiting for more:) Found you via your Great British Sewing Bee Chat. I live in Georgia in the U.S. and am also a teacher. So interesting to hear your thoughts about your shop...your are clearly a teacher at heart! Aine...I enjoy your fresh approach to making. For those of us who are a "bit" older it's good to hear the perspective of people who are newish to sewing and fiber work...makes me look at what I do with fresh eyes. I am curious to ask...when you knit, you "throw" your yarn (American style) as opposed to "picking and knitting" (what Americans call the British way of knitting). Which way do most knitters in your shop knit? Can't wait for your next video...cheers!

Hi! Delighted you like our videos, we're going to do another Sewing Bee chat soon. Such a good show! I learnt how to knit years ago from my godmother and it's what I did again when I started knitting in the last year or so. I've just had to google the difference, from what I've seen in the shop, lots of folks throw, I don't think I've actually seen anyone pick - I'll have to poke Stuart to see if he's noticed it. Stuart here! What a lovely message - thanks for taking the time to write to us and it's lovely to know that the shop is interesting to watch! I have to say I havn't looked back since leaving teaching. I loved my 16yr career of teaching 12 to 18 year olds but I was ready to move on and try something new! So....knitting. Yes, most of us here in the UK will 'Throw' the yarn. Traditional style British Knitting. Where the yarn to the ball is in our right hand. With picking and knitting, the yarn to the ball is in the left hand we call it 'continental' knitting as this style is very european, It's very quick for stocking stitch. Sock knitters will do this approach. I've given it a go and it is quick. A bit more of a faff when doing purls, but it is quick and less movement invovled. But it didn't feel proper to me, so I've stuck with british style and throw my yarn :) I hope we can keep on enteraining you and you find us and the shop interesting to follow :) Stuart

We are indeed open at the shop. Scout hut will re stat again on the first Saturday of every month on April - when its warmer. So All saturdays are as normal at the shop :)
