Hi Kelly, this video of yours popped up on my youtube feed today, and I did not even remember that I had subscribed to your channel ! But towards the end, I heard you say that you will be talking about Teaching English in Japan. And I was like, whoa ! I am also a foreigner living in Japan, and English is not my native language, but I too loved Japan, and the language intrigued me into learning more, and I am associated with this language and country for the past 15 years. No, I am not a senior person, and I have just started teaching English for a kindergarten school since this April...I love kids, and I do have a decent command over English, but not necessarily the native accent. But I loved the fact that kids are so welcoming, and all I am required to do is to make English fun. I have started with Grade 2 and 3 in kindergarten schools, and I will begin Grade 1 in January. So, I would like to know if you can make more videos about teaching English in Japan, and if you can give pointers on games and lesson plans that I can learn from your videos...I am not even sure you are going to read my comment, but I hope you do....I follow the eslkidsstuff currciculum for now, but I do not have practical knowledge of how the classes can be made better...so I do from my understanding....But I would love to have some guidance..! Love your pleasant nature...Keep going !

Anyone who watches this video and consider to be an English teacher in Japan, please DON'T choose AEON, ECC, NOVA etc. These companies have hundreds of chain schools near train stations and use the teachers like slaves at low salary and little break time. JET program is OK.

That part when you mentioned that if you can’t find sour cream in Japan just use Greek yogurt was actually so helpful to me! I have lived in Tokyo for four months already but I was not able to find an adequate substitution for sour cream here in Tokyo. Now I actually live in Kasai so I can definitely relate to a lot of things that you talked about living in the not as Metropolitan part of Tokyo. Keep up the good work!

Hi! I've been an English teacher in Japan so I will give you an answer based on my experience :) Oh, I have to say tho that I was not an English teacher for kids, but for Last year highschoolers or 18+ (so people who wanted to get into Uni, Office Workers etc. ) Pretty much every "Eikaiwa" = English teaching/conversation school has its own materials and teaching methods. Usually, you have a set amount of hours for initial training (this is after you get the job) and you get to know exactly how to teach like, lesson structure, the content of materials and other information every teacher would need. After that, you usually have some "observed" lesson where you get to teach observed by a senior who takes notes and gives you feedback and then if they approve, you can start being a regular teacher. This might sound pretty nervewrecking (at least it was for me at first), but everything happens in fast-paced and effectively so you don't have to worry. If you plan to teach english privately, it mostly depends on the student's needs. Some students just want a free talk, other might want to pass a certification exam so they will bring their own books and you might need to correct them or help them further understanding some grammar points. Overall it's very relaxed and if you're passionate you're going to be fine :) Good luck!

I loved this style of video too, very relaxing to chill out to after a long day! 💖 Your sunshiny demeanour really cheers me up ☀️✨ I'm Canadian and applying to JET this year, and I was wondering if the schools provide you with a sort of outline of activities / subjects they want you to teach, or is it left up to you? I will have my BA in education (elementary) at the end of this winter, but it still stresses me out to think of how open "teaching English" is, as I'm not sure what levels kids are at on average at what grade in Japan. If you'd be willing to show us a sample lesson or two and provide some advice about what kind of activities were successful or not with your students as well, that would be an amazing video topic! Thanks for the great videos!😊💕

My favorite part of this video is when you said "round 2" and then Ryuji said "fight!" and right after said "hadouken!" because my boyfriend does the same thing lol

*fingers crossed* I am trying this year. Freaking out a bit. Keeping my hopes low, if I get an interview I will be happy. Downside is I really have only 2 years to try and if I don't get in, I may not be able to apply again.
