My heart goes out to you! You've been brave! Hindsight is always 20/20. Some your priorities over late Spring and Summer perhaps should have been rethought. But you've learned a lot of life lessons and hopefully are still together. I pray you are OK and have figured out the best way forward. Sometimes dreams need to change, but they don't have to die. Don't despair. People are rooting for you. Blessings on your heads!

I am so happy to hear from you! Looks like you made a lot of progress with the chicken/rabbit house. I love it. Good Lord, I complain when it gets below 20c (that's 68F)! So I have nothing but respect for you two trying to carve out a home in such harsh conditions. Love seeing your journey and I'm hoping the weather gods sort themselves out and conditions improve. I'm in Western Australia and we're just entering into Spring. Fingers crossed we have no bush fires this year.

This was an extremely touching video - my heart ached/aches for both of you. It is now September, wondering what your summer was like. I know, from watching other videos from people in AK, that there has been a lot of rain. If you had as much trouble with rain as you had with all that snow, that would be almost too much to bear. Prayers for both of you.

Hi new sub here. Wow! This was my first video of you guys and whoa, what a year! I don't know where you are now on your journey, but I just wanted to say, I respect whatever decision you both have made. I could not have gone through that year and still kept going! You're an amazing couple and that man seems to never give up. God bless you both. Much love from Rhode Island. Terry 🙏♥️💯

For some reason the whole United States got an ungodly amount of snow this year. I'm sorry you guys got snowed in like you did. I know it's hard with that much snow. I'm sure everyone's hoping they don't get as much snow or rain as they did last this last year. I hope things work out for you too. God bless

WOW As empty as the batteries were after the long, cold winter! You enter the new year brave and strong. I am proud of your perseverance. So nice to see the new animals. And the construction of the vegetable garden is so great. WOW again I'm glad the batteries are charged again. And I understand that you are already (what's too soon?) getting chickens and rabbits... they also give you love and a good feeling. Feed for body and mind. Chicken villa is also a good idea, it can never be too big. Nothing worse than having to "rebuild" every time. And from what I understood from Wildwood Off Grid Alaska (Ryan and Vonn) and Simple Living Alaska (Eric and Arielle), the chickens need space and windows, especially in the cold, dark months. I like the design of the roof that will help the snow slide off. I assume it will also be insulated? Obviously I'm writing this while watching... BAM and then it was March....and the coop is doing well with the snow. Oh no, not the rest. Damn, so much snow again. I am always amazed at the weight of snow and how it packs together. tribute to Jordan, he does it again. My heart broke when I heard you break down. Why does everything come at once? And then Do I hear a like a well being drilled at the end? I wait with anticipation for the rest of the story. Maybe take over or rent Eric and Arielle's house until your place is ready... I'll wait and see. Stay strong and healthy.

Hey there, I watched this video, and I felt a huge wave of empathy seeing the suffering and challenges you've been through. I've seen on other KZbin channels that it was an extraordinary winter, an immense test. But you, even in the midst of colossal difficulties, have overcome it, and I'm sure that even without particularly fancy tools, this winter won't catch you off guard. I'm watching from here with sadness at your video, so honest and genuine, so different from other videos where everything seems to be going perfectly. Stay strong and courageous. Stick together because that's the most important thing, the strength that conquers all. When things are this powerful and adverse, you need to pause and pray deeply from the bottom of your heart because good Mighty Jesus NEVER ignores such heartfelt prayers. I'm holding you tight in my prayers and hope that Jesus makes you feel His presence and His love. Sergio (Sardinia, Italy)

Great to see a video documenting a longer timeline, I’m enjoying seeing how you guys are progressing. Have to agree with another commenter about hindsight - maybe a safer stronger enclosure/ snow removal equipment/progression towards the actual cabin would have been a better use of your time and resources over summer? I guess you wanted some reward for your efforts thus far (rabbits and chickens) and I can understand that, but I hope you guys are doing ok now and had a productive summer. Snow will be there soon… unlike the sub-tropics of Australia 😅

@@homeatlaskawe went back and watched all the previous videos and then rewatched this one. Tire chains would be a good investment, but you may have already purchased some. Can't wait to see your latest progress. I'm guessing from your comment that you are not going to build the cabin where you first talked about?

So the video ended April 2023...things looked very bleak, and my heart goes out to you guys...but it's now Sept. 2023, the summer has come and gone...did you sell the property? Are you still there in the same spot? Have you been able to improve your situation? Are you all ok???
@homeatlaska
@homeatlaska Жыл бұрын
Hi LV! I'm trying to figure-out how to answer those questions. They're difficult to answer. I think that one thing I can say is that the summer catch-up will go quickly, and you'll see the here and right now very, very soon. But with all of it, there's a story to tell of how we get from this video to now, that a comment here just won't do justice. As for the rest... I guess we'll all just kinda figure that out together. 💜

I've been doing a migration to a new computer I built for video editing, because my current editing computer is dying. There have been a lot of incompatabilities with the new system, and the old one is dying and keeps deleting my video files... both of the video I'm making, and of the raw footage. It meant that my 3 weeks of 'videos created and uploaded early' breathing room was sucked-up with troubleshooting and recovering files, and redoing videos, and I was literally up half that night trying to get this video rendered without errors, and uploaded because I promised you guys I would in the Community Tab, and I absolutely hate to not be true to my word. Typically, I have a Sound Master I've hired to do sound mastering to correct these problems (I'm VERY much not good at it). But he needs 1-2 weeks of lead time, which meant the video wouldn't be released for another 1-2 weeks. I made a judgment call that it maybe wasn't perfect, but fit what I wanted for this video. I apologize if I was mistaken.
