Best part of being in Hohenfels was driving to Vicenza. I should have never left Germany, and I should have ordered an s1000rr while I was there. You live and you learn I guess. lol

Rain and no pavement! They were doing renovations on the road at the time and about 5km was all dirt/gravel, interesting to ride on with a sport bike.

Slovenia was nice, but it rained really hard after I made it to the top of that pass....but I kept riding im not scared of the rain!

Thanks! Believe it or not but to me the S1000 is an awesome, not to mention the fastest touring bike every created! Lol. I have put 14k km on it in the first year I have owned it. Winter is one of the best times to tour a lot of these passes or you will be suffering in heat and terrible traffic all summer...not fun at all.

Nice video and the trips. I’m surprised you did up to 1000 km a day. I did a 3 day trip this summer and my wrists were killing me after some 350 km, especially on mountain roads. I did max of 500 on the last day but last 100 I was in pain. I just got OEM tail and tank bag so I’ll be trying some more next year. :) Cheers

Thanks man! It was truly a great experience. I almost got the oem tank bag but ultimately decided on the Wunderlich tank bag. Very sleek, could tuck in nicely on the Autobahn, held just as much as the oem and I ran power to it to keep my phone, bluetooth headset and gopro charged. Bag connections also make a saddle bag system for this bike but I never needed that much luggage.

I hope to get a few rides in around the end of March before I leave Germany in April. Im still trying to go to Col de l'Iseran, France before I leave....One of the highest paved roads in Europe.

Im in Vilseck and got the bike in Graf. Was really an awesome deal, with all options came in just around $15k and no taxes. There are definitely better roads in NW Italy and Switzerland.

Depending where you are in Hungary it would probably take a full day of riding to get to most of these places in Switzerland, maybe even 2 days for you if you take all passes on your way or just stay on the Autobahn and make it a day. I ride from Nurnberg to Stelvio Pass in 1 day, it would only take 5-6 hours on the Autobahn but easily make it a 13-15 hour ride going through the passes to get there. I will be leaving in April, hope to get another trip in before. Following you on IG

Ya, one of my buddies bought a 2012 from them right when the '13s came out. Fully loaded including paint and only paid like 14k.

Nice trip man! Hope to do another one soon! I have some questions if you don 't mind. How many days were you on the road? Did all your luggage fitted in this tailbag? how many liters is it?

I would ride down to the Alps any weekend I could, some times I would go 3 times a month. Longest trip I did was 6 days straight and did 600 miles a day. The tail bag is listed at 29 liters. With smart packing and a Wunderlich Tank Bag I could fit enough stuff for the entire 6 days. Pretty much just the essentials, underwear, socks and shirts for everyday and a pair of shorts, jeans and running shoes would all fit. Along with all my GoPro gear, maps, phone, ipod and chargers for all. It was a tight fit but its possible.

If I just took the autobahn straight down it takes 5 hours from Grafenwohr to the Stelvio. I would try to hit some passes on the way down so it easily turned into a 13 hour day on the bike.

Yea you too, best color I think BMW has had out. Too bad for most that this color has been discontinued for the S1k after only 8 months. The next BMW im looking at is the R Nine T...super sweet bike...got to sit on it at the BMW Welt in Munich about a week ago.

how comfortable is the s1000rr to travel?

For a sport bike it's very comfortable. I've rode a Ducati and Kawasaki there and was very uncomfortable.

Not only Stelvio, Jaufenpass, Timmeljoch, Dolomites and some others but don't remember. Stelvio is cool but speed is slower there are a lot of faster passes that are a little more fun. Just got back yesterday from another trip, Stelvio is closed and will be until June so we hit the Bernina pass which has about 12 ft. of snow at the top then went to Livigno to the Ofenpass.

The military pays me to live in Germany. All these countries are about 5 hours from where I live so actually its not that expensive. I guess the most expensive part about it is the bike and my GoPros. (I supposed gas is expensive too depending what country you're in...$8-$10 a gallon.
