Hey girl! I can remember when you just had a couple shelves. But you just kept on building. Now look….you have so much now. And a back up for a back up. You have done an extraordinary job stocking and keeping inventory of all the food. I’m so proud of you. And honored to call you my friend. I know Luke is proud of you too. You also speak very well and are able to articulate instruction for beginners. I’m just taken aback by your kindness and how much you care about others who maybe thinking …..well it’s to late to start preparing. This was a very helpful video, Tamera! You had so many tips and tricks for everyone preppers and non- preppers alike. Everyone who cooks, who keeps food on hand for themselves and/or their families could benefit from your methods. The only tip that I can share is that if you have the extra money I can say that an upright freezer is worth the extra money for the convenience and saving on your back that chest freezers can’t offer. I have to say that you ruled your chest freezers like a Queen!

Yes girl! This is awesome…. I worry about people who don’t take this type of thing seriously. It makes me anxious watching some videos and they don’t have enough stored things for next week let alone months/year. We started with an inexpensive dehydrator and began working through our frozen vegetables to make them shelf stable since they’re already blanched. I watch Martin Midlife Misadventures on here and learned that trick. You’re such an inspiration Tamara!!

This video gave me some ideas and inspiration for my own food storage! Your home canned food is really coming along! 👍🏼👊🏼☺️ I have learned that it is not advisable to store any food or water containers directly on the concrete floor of the basement. Apparently, there are chemicals that can leech through to the food. From what I've read, it might not be enough to make the food or water toxic; however it can change the taste drastically.
@SouthernWifeEverydayLife

Yes, I store them on the bottom shelf or in milk crates, so it’s not directly on the floor. I pulled some out so everyone could see what I had.

Your food stores look great, but definitely keep adding to it. Every time you go to the store, buy a little extra. Also, I buy the plastic bins from the Dollar Tree and use those to sort things in my freezer and it is easier to lift off the top layer to get to the things on the bottom. I'm short and "hanging" in the chest freezer is hard...lol!!

I think you are doing great! Like you, I'd love to have a freeze dryer, but not in my budget either. I do have dehydrators, water bath canners and a pressure canner. I hope someday you can get one of those because then you will have yet another layer by being able to have your own canned meat on the shelf when you find the deals at your salvage stores. Keep talking about this because people need to do this and NOT STOP!

You're doing great! Try pressure canning some of your meat and poultry now so you have more "shelf-stable" food in case the power goes out for an extended period. I started pressure canning meat, poultry, and low-acid veggies three years ago and doing so has allowed me to have more put by than I ever would have otherwise. I still have a full refrigerator w/freezer, but in the event of a power outage, I could can most of the frozen meat in my freezer. I'm by myself, so I can in pints and half-pints. I could use another flat of each, so I have a few extra empty jars. I haven't done vacuum sealing, might try that for the rice that I can't can, and for the beans that I prefer not to can right away. Glad I found your channel and I look forward to watching more videos!

Thank you so much for sharing. I use plastic tote bags in my chest freezer. this way I am storing in silos instead of layers. You could put your Corn in one, veggies in another bread in another....might be something to try. Also a white board on the top of your freezer that you could scratch off as you use it might be easier to reach than the wall above the freezer.

Great ideas, amazing pantries! Only thing I could think of would be a packed and ready "bug out" bags for each member of household. Also think about fire or flood or sump pump backing up. After seeing what Russia has done to Ukrainians homes, businesses, roadways...I start thinking... if America got truly got attacked...would our glass jars be destroyed, would we have food spread out in different areas so some survived. Would we have clothes, boots, water bottles, dry food, camping supplies, medicine prescriptions, pets food, etc. Where could we go to, how would we meet up? Those are things that keep me pushing forward.

It seems like my really big chest freezer was where food went to die. Things just got lost in there... so I gave that away now that there are just two of us and got a smaller 7 cu.ft freezer. I put gallon water bottles at the very bottom. A) That helps stop food from getting LOST at the bottom and B) helps keep things cold if we lose power.... plus it's good emergency water. My new freezer rule is to A) keep an inventory and B) every 6 months Eat DOWN ALL the food to ZERO.. snd then re-stock with all new fresh stuff. That's what seems to work best for the two of us.

Girl, I’d love a freeze dryer as well. I’ve been going through my freezer and canning the majority of my meat. I haven’t used our dehydrator yet. I’m in Kentucky too and because of the hurricanes in the south I’ve been without power for a week at a time several times and have had to replace two roofs. We end up getting so much rain and horrible winds. Katrina was one half my neighborhood was with out power and roofs. It’s crazy. I think Kentucky gets good ice storms. You might want to take cans out of the box carriers. The cardboard soaks up moisture, especially in basements...and it causes deterioration of metal cans sitting on soggy cardboard.

Into the video, but had to comment lol I Love your videos 💝 and I love this video of showing us all the levels to food preparedness. 💝 We moved to a new house and the setup of our food storage has changed... Bc of the setup of the new house can't put the shelves how we once had them (Very open kitchen and living room & carpet in the bedrooms) different from our last house. Trying to figure out where to put our stuff let alone prepper pantry stuff. Don't have the storage closets or garage like we had in the last house. But I really do love this house setup 💝 just trying to find more "out of sight" storage pantry cabinets that doesn't Scream "Prepper!!!" As soon as someone walks in to our house lol

Buy plastic food safe bins at dollar general/dollar tree etc. Anything in boxes needs to be put into lidded plastic food safe bins, like candy or snack bars, instant soup envelopes, cocoa mixes, jellow, cake mix boxes etc. Rodents and insects get into boxed or bagged foods and get ruined.

I don’t agree. I’ve kept everything in my working prepper pantry in the original packaging unless it gets open for over 3 years now and I’ve never had any issues. If you are working through your stock using and restocking it. It doesn’t need to be put in different packaging. Remember everyone preps differently. Doesn’t mean what they are doing is wrong. I'm writing you today brothers and sisters because I care about you and where you spend eternity. With so many lies going around about what you must do to be saved, I wanted to share the truth about Gods word with you and maybe give you a better perspective on the Gospel (Good news) well the bible says it is appointed to man to die once and then the judgment " yes there is going to be a judgment you see God is a holy God and in him is no darkness at all..the bible says we have violated Gods law (ten commandments) and are guilty of Hell and seperation from God for eternity this originally began in the garden of eden. Heres the Good news though, God loved you enough to send his only son into the world in the flesh to be crucified for our sins..yes that's right christ was sinless and bore our sins in his body, because without the shedding of blood there could be no remission of sin. So he was crucified on our behalf he was dead 3 days and then rose from the dead, victorious having defeated death, and now is seated at the right hand of God interceding on the behalf of the beilever. So that whoever repents of their sins and puts their faith and trust in Jesus christ as lord and savior, will be saved from the judgment of hell and will have everlasting life with God for eternity. Love u. Blessings my freinds the time is at hand;).

My feelings are that we are going to be facing years of economic turmoil. We have to get real with ourselves and accept that we may not be able to always have it as good as it once was in America.

If you have mice or rats use jiffy cornbread and baking soda equal parts in a plastic container. Problem solved, hope this helps.

I love your channel. We had Covid back in January and I was stocked on food and medicines. We needed cough drops, sprite, orange juice! Was very thankful we had almost everything!

Great video. Visualization is the break through that some people need to make sense of prepping. Your explanations were great too. I think it is important to make sure you like the food you in your prepper pantry. I thought I liked Vienna sausages. When was a small child I wanted to go with my grandfather on his boat. His occupation was self employed fisherman. He would be gone all day & would take with him a couple of cans of Vienna sausages, a sleeve of crackers, a couple bottles of pepsi(this was way before bottled water). My mother didn’t want me to go with him since he was deaf, she was afraid I would fall overboard & he wouldn’t hear it. Recently I ate a can of Vienna sausages & don’t really like them. If it was a dire emergency I am sure I would eat them.

I’ve never been a fan of Vienna sausage, however, I don’t think I ever ate them as a kid. So I know I won’t ever put them in my pantry. Maybe I should buy a can to see if I like them.

Hi Tamara, since I started 16 8 intermittent fasting, I noticed my food storage going waaaay further. Plus I've lost weight and gained other health benefits. I have black coffee and vitamins in morning. Eat at noon, 4pm and finish supper by 8pm. Then only herbal tea after 8. If all the adults in the house follow this, it makes food storage much easier and everyone sleep better and make better food choices. Ie... I'm satisfied with very simple meals from my food stores now

We are working on a few solar panels to keep our fridge and freezer going. Since we live in the deep south, maybe also run a small window AC for one room. Previously, for hurricanes we ran a large generator for utility interruptions. Now we feel is is reasonably to prep in case of frequent, or long term utility interruptions. (just in case) We can also turn off the fridge/freezer for an hour at night and get a load of clothes done. Of course, our food pantry takes precedence....

I have a few solar generators to keep my frozen and refrigerated food safe. I absolutely love them! It does require consistent sunshine to really work so it’s great when the sun shines. I have a small inverter generator to recharge the power stations on days when I don’t have sun. It’s been so much to think about but I’m happy we have these things. I’m still getting enough solar panels to make it realistic but I add something each month to space out the spending.

I find it a little easier to put everything in baskets, then set them in the freezer so when I need something on the bottom all I need to do is lift the baskets save me from digging through to the bottom to find something,

So great. I call my emergency pantry over flow parking 🙂. We also keep flash lights and a radio as we live on the east coast and tornadoes and hurricanes have knocked out stores , power etc.

I know some people may think this is extreme, but, we had two terrible storms in my area a few years ago back to back. One was a 2 tornados that wiped out most of our cities electricity and then the temps dropped and we had a small blizzard. This happened in March in Illinois... we were lucky and had power, by the grace of God, but my grown children living in different areas of town did not. So, we were like a hotel. And I had food for everyone because I had a decent pantry. The stores were out of power and most were closed because of the damage. The tornadoes hit minutes apart on opposite sides of town. . It was crazy.
