Hi All Metanimers!
Today Meta Anime is going to explain an animated drama film directed by and written by Mamoru Hosoda called Mirai (未来のミライ - Mirai no Mirai ).
In a quiet corner of the city, four-year-old Kun Oota has lived a spoiled life as an only child with his parents and the family dog, Yukko. But when his new baby sister Mirai is brought home, his simple life is thrown upside-down; suddenly, it isn't all about him anymore. Despite his tantrums and nagging, Mirai is seemingly now the subject of all his parents' love.
To help him adapt to this drastic change, Kun is taken on an extraordinary journey through time, meeting his family's past, present, and future selves, as he learns not only what it means to be a part of a family, but also what it means to be an older brother.
Hope you enjoy this video.

It's a good movie, but it's unsatisfying that the boy was the one who adjusted for his family. His parents should have addressed the real issue of their child feeling abandoned after having a new sibling. So, even if I like the kids, the parents are pretty lacking themselves.

Perhaps, but that’s how real life works. However unfair it is, you can’t change other people. You can only change how you act.

@@cookiediangelo8511 yeah, and in that way it's actually showing a more realistic circumstance (quite ironic for the time travel stuff in the movie) than what most of the KZbin commenters think. What you think is often not how things work.

Yes this movie good for family values but it ignored the fact that children with new siblings can feel alone and parents should spend time with them even it is talking

Exactly.... I despise the fact that every one calls out Kun as spoiled. He is a mere child... He just needs attention of his beloveds like Mirai. Being an elder sibling is tough, the day you have someone younger, your parents start treating you differently (less like a child) the new child comes with overwhelming responsibility that they feel fed up of their first born. Why anyone would want a 3 year old to understand how it feels like raising a child. It's not their problem...

@@SanjanaKumari-os7qu I get ur point of view but it's not easy taking care of a new born do u realise they don't even get enough sleep of course it's not the child fault but Everyone have to grow up at some point tats the way life is everyone gets their own time to enjoy being ignorant and pampered...of the child is his first time being born then it's also the parents first time being a parent too. But I do agree parents shouldn't have favorites among their children

@@helloguys9049 indeed, but no one grows in a day.... Children hold grudges for something so small to you in their adulthood. And yes, there is a good solution to it... Either avoid having extra children when you aren't prepared enough to deal with two tht u eventually end up neglecting one or have good gap between the two till one grows little more sensible (say of 5-7 years old)
@helloguys9049

@@SanjanaKumari-os7qu for a long time i was the youngest in my family even among cousin but as time goes by new members will be born and of course they will start having most of the attention and ya sometimes I would be jealous but I like the fact that this kids will look up at me like I did to my elder siblings..with younger siblings comes a sense of responsibility to do better and also come making a person more mature and i don't think adults will hold grudges for a little things unless they are still a child in mentally or else they will try to put their themselves in other's shoes to understand
@SanjanaKumari-os7qu

@@helloguys9049 You cannot advocate for everyone I suppose. You are happy in your situation and I am really happy for you... However in the movie itself the boy grows distant from everyone as he becomes a teenager.. Not every child is same... I agree one day we all have to realize our responsibilities sometimes even at a tender age, but not at an expense of feeling unseen or invisible or unwelcomed... People are slowly realising this, and looking forward to a better change, I don't want depressed and silenced adults who are lost and have no one to talk to.... (You can't deny this) Childhood trauma is a real thing, neglecting one for other or showing favoritism can have consequences in later life. Here in the story however, the boy had very nice parents who seek out to him from when needed (when the mum appreciated him for learning cycle) we need more of them... Yes raising a family is hard sometimes your child may still feel left out but it's never too late to make up to it. ❤

Don’t really understand all the “he’s gonna be spoiled as an adult,” when from, what I understand, he isn’t paid attention to, until he succeeds at something cool? He only acts out bc they refuse to see him until he does? I don’t wanna say he’s neglected but he sure as hell isn’t paid attention to. Love the message, just wish the parents shared their attention between the sibs rather than just Mirai. (Haven’t seen the movie, just saw this)

In my point of view the adult boy don't have a good relation with his sister and mother cause they never tried to understand what he was going through and as the future sister said it's his fault fou being rude as that is what the parents and grandparents told miso it proves that they never tried to involve him in their life as before and no the bycycle and praise all that was after he visited past and future so the actual future that remained same where he was neglected and no one tried to understand why he is hyper or why he is throwing tantrums.

I have the same feelings as you do. I became a big brother when I was twice Kun’s age, to a baby sister. An eight year is certainly more independent than a four year old and can handle similar situations much, much better without trauma.
@SH-zh8eh
@SH-zh8eh Жыл бұрын
@@Raidmasterprod Not only the lack of attention but the fact that my parents consider that my lil sibling could do no wrong and whenever something happens it's always my fault like the time my sibling deliberately set me up by crying for no reason and immediately smiling behind my parents back when they scolded me. It was just pathetic. But now it has become better with a third child in the house I'm witnessing all the things my sibling did to me being done by my third sibling to her. Karma man.

Mirai no mirai is made with Japanese family/cultural values which are the exact opposite of American ones. The conclusion seems to support that Mirai adjusts his behavior to create familial harmony (like how the tree is the "index" representing their entire family's timeline). This is extremely Japanese, where everyone is taught to focus on the big picture and be always aware of how their individual voice should be united with the collective voice of the community. By comparison, an American version of Mirai would have had the family realize "they were in the wrong" and changed their behavior, thus emphasizing Mirai's autonomy as a human with his own feelings despite his young age. You can also see this in the way people respond to stories. I can't remember the exact study that was done, but psychologists showed the same images/video/story to Japanese and American high schoolers. The Japanese students pointed out the big picture elements but were unable to correctly remember the main actors of the scene. By comparison, the American students pointed out the main actors and story, but couldn't correctly remember the contextual details of the scene. Not saying there's a "right way." Just pointing out why some of the non-Japanese commenters are reacting in certain ways to this film and its message.

The first time i watched this movie was during a Film Festival, the original version with subtitles. A bunch of parents saw that it was a "Cartoon" movie and brought very young children, who could not follow the subtitles and got scared and cried at some points of the movie. Then the parents loudly complained about the movie not being "appropiate" for children. Because of this, i did not like it that first time, but when i rewatched it, i loved it!

The traditional dolls are taken out to be displayed just for Hina-matsuri (Doll's Festival/Girl's Day - March 3rd). Some people say that the daughters will get married much later in their lives than they like if the dolls are not put away right after the festival. A little bit different from what she explains in this video.

This is what happened with me and my elder brother the only difference is we were not lucky enough to see what our future would hold and ended up abandoning each other and it's been almost 8 years since we haven''t talked to each other.. He's my only brother and it's because of his rude and humiliating behaviour that it all happened. I don't regret that we cut off each other. My only regret is that we are not that kinda kids our parents always wanted to have. They wanted us to be together no matter what but this is what meant to be happened as we cut loose from each other.. sometimes, it pretty hurts to be a part of family you no longer belong to..

I kinda relate to this film a lot. My brother used to be a lot jealous of me, my parents would give all the attention in the world to me. This made my brother angry, and he would often try to physically harm me. He was just 3 years older then me, and this went even after we both entered our teens. Watching this made me quite emotional.
