“I lost six of my good friends… but through it all, I’ve seen God’s goodness.” - Yoni
If there’s one thing October 7th has revealed to us here in Israel is that a generation of lions emerged from the ashes of the most horrific attack on Jews since the Holocaust.
Being Israeli born or living in this land means you have seen and experienced it all when it comes to terrorist attacks. It means you are taught in kindergarten what to do in case of a siren, how to lay on the ground and cover your head, or seek shelter.
Our young people, most of whom were born in a post 9/11 world, might not have experienced the horrors of that unprecedented attack, but terrorism isn’t foreign to them. Unfortunately they’ve faced it for most of their young lives.
On the morning of October 7th, young generation of Israelis showed that they are not the fragile and soft “digital generation” many thought they were.
In the face of murderous terror, young Israelis stood up like a generation of lions that will not cower down in fear, but stand tall and fight courageously, willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for their land and people.
Faith of young Israelis like Yoni, who believe in Jesus, was stretched and tested like never before. Yet it came out stronger from every test so far, fortified by the fire of what they’ve had to face.
The magnitude of courage and resilience of young Israelis such as Yoni will one day be likened to the Maccabees, or great biblical warriors that stood in the face of terror and drew out their swords, led by faith, strengthened by God.
We want to make their voices heard and their stories told, so that the world knows the generation of lions that God has been raising here in Israel, which is a testament to what He is preparing to do next.
