Looking forward, but please take care not to wear yourself out on too many projects, tempting as they are. Take care!

Your discussion on how to keep costs under control makes sense for the budget strapped EV conversions. This way, one less vehicle goes into landfill/recycling and usable parts get forwarded on, further reducing resource waste. Encouraging third party, individual EV conversions is an essential eco move.

The „A off“ button might turn the auto start/stop on and off. That feature stops the engine when waiting at traffic lights, and restarts it when you want to take off. At least the button in my Golf that looks the same does that.

its exactly that, autostop start off.

How about have the EV double as a home energy storage system? Even if it's only restricted to grid tie operation to minimize costs, that can allow it to be an investment anywhere there are time of use rates.

I am very interested in this project as a conversion enthusiast. I might even consider converting an e92 myself.

I never understand going through the effort of converting ordinary cars,a bentley arnage cost about 10k in the UK(new 250k) and the mechanical components on eBay would make it a free car.That's something that would be special in electric and would grow the channel.

The value of leafs where i live has dropped like a stone. Working ones now sell for half the price of your wreaked ones though they often only have 40 to 50 percent battery life left.

Downside is that people don't want ordinary yet custom cars. It's only worth doing to classics that are special.

very excited to see how this project turns out, one of the best looking generations of 3 series that I've always felt would've made for a great conversion if you can get all the infotainment and car computer working. please keep us updated! :)

KR = Kronen, swedish or danish currency I guess. Nice plastik panzer even though BMW did not make Panzers, but Daimler / Mercedes. I like the net zero idea and I would suggest to get an e-GOLF power train. We have a quite a new one from the last production year in 2020. Runs quite well if you can live with the 31 kWh net battery and a 200 km range which can increase in summer on cross country roads to over 310 km if you drive carefully. Not sure what those will cost, but I guess bmw tank parts are not that cheap. At least the BMW was a bargain based on our prices here in central europe.

Panzer is 8 series, E92 is 3 series, not a point to compare. E92 is the most beautiful coupe. We keep watching!

really good Idea. I think it might be a bit hard to make EUR 3.5k out of both vehicles, especially with the old leafs but it is def. an interesting approach. Looking forward to the progress.

I converted an E60 to electric drive, but I can't get the ABS to work, so there's no speed display, maybe there's a solution for that??
@blackterminal6 ай бұрын
Good job but e60 is heavily computerized. Old BMW models had separate abs modules that ran mostly independently. For your e60 you would need to reverse engineer the can bus commands to fool the engine computer to think the engine is running. Hopefully you did not throw the ice brains away. You really need to know computer programming. Nothing off the shelf. I had a e60 and loved it but I couldn't afford to keep it.
