A12 Extinction Rebellion, demonstration, police, water cannon, music, ME

Climate activists from Extinction Rebellion (XR) blocked the A12 on Saturday afternoon, March 11 at noon. The police tried to stop them and warned that action would be taken. A few thousand activists entered the Utrechtsebaan from various sides, where they sat down on the ground next to the Malieveld at the entrance to the tunnel. More than eight hours later, the last demonstrator was removed from the road.

They demand an immediate stop to the provision of fossil subsidies, because otherwise the earth will warm up too quickly. "The government is not doing enough to ensure that we stay within the target of one and a half degrees of warming. That is unfair to all living things.
