I've had desktop PC's for 30 years. Aside from hard drive failures, the only hardware issue I've had is 1 shot power supply and 1 shot motherboard. On different machines. So why do all these laptops keep breaking? Is it something to do with the constant switching from battery to mains? Or because they're being thrown around a lot?
@luminousfractal4205 ай бұрын
late 90's was pretty dodgy for power supplies and motherboards tbh. some of my finest explosions on cheap asrock mobos.
@Heichou965 ай бұрын
Probably because laptops are more common. Furthermore if a cap burns in your desktop Mobo you can just buy a new Mobo and swap the other components (ram, CPU, ps etc). A repair could have the same cost of a new Mobo

Hi Sorin, this time you were lucky... even me wose thinking a more hard job... but better for customer and easy pizza for YOU 😁😁...but as you said a real shame Apple don't replace the capacitor...but not even the board they wont sell a new one... what a sheet and they don't pay nothing for the environment...It costs me € 500 to register in the national register of environmental managers for disposal in Italy for 5 years + € 50 for the additional year subscription and I can only make a withdrawal request for disposal every 3 months... bye Francesco Timpano from Florence Italy
@Tribes115 ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure apple didn't even diagnose the board, they just swap it for a brand new to test if it's the board, and go charging for a replacement without concerning for data or anything else. That's how they do it. It's not repair, it's swapping the board and that's all they do. If they can't replace the faulty part, they just condemn the whole notebook and you need to buy a new one lol

I haven't had anyone bring me a M1 (or later) Mac yet. All I ever get is people calling about broken screens for their Macbook Airs and Pros and I tell them if you want to take a chance and buy a new screen on ebay, I'll gladly fit it but I'm not going to buy it and accept responsibility for anything that goes wrong. Here's hoping for some bad capacitor jobs. 😆

Praise Apple's design all you want; it's redundant beyond belief. Why go to the trouble of designing the insides to look high maintenance when it's never intended to be maintained? Narcissism much?
