I'm a bit concerned about the damage to the hard facing on the pinion and crown wheel this will only get worse over time and failure will happen.

@Mark1210,If the backlash is no longer correct due to the unnecessarily applied excess of silicone, this can lead to such damage. Silicone just doesn't belong there. Perhaps there are other reasons for the damage to the tooth flanks. The problem may be easier to assess with the next video. Best regards from Germany

@@Mercedesdriver2012 Hi yes i totally agree and throughout my experience working on high power drive trains for many years any gear degradation always leads to failure as we all can see the hardness has been removed from the gear and over time this will only get worse in my opinion. I know the incorrect tooth contact has caused this issue in the first place but for the small amount of money replacement of these gears would have been beneficial to the reliability of this drivetrain.
