And to top it off.... Chairman Fred Hampton, Jr. Was in the 🏠 don't get no better than that! Your Father was truly Awesome and his devotion to the struggle...selfless

Daniel Kaluuya has won me over by his good work playing Fred Hampton. Fred Hampton Jr. echoes the sentiments of his great father Fred Hampton Sr. Lakeith Stanfield embodied Bill O’Neal character to the point that I hope black men in the main can reframe our purpose out of self and be more for the collective in a transformative way. Less Pookies, Ray-Ray and Bill O’Neal and more Fred Hamptons.

Not nearly enough of y'all are heeding the words of the great Fred Hampton: "If you ever think about me, and you ain't gonna do no revolutionary act, forget about me. I don't want myself on your mind if you're not going to work for the people." -Chairman Fred Hampton

Maaaaan... To be honest due to the changing of facts and infusion of today's political climate I personally thought the movie sucked. The performances were good but the script... smh was utter garbage. I mean the Panthers showing up to a white supremacist meeting in the 1960s & not being shot killed & or arrested is as realistic as santa claus, let alone them listening and being sympathetic to their cause.

To be honest I never even heard of Fred Hampton and I basically only watched it the first time because Im a fan of Daniel Kaluuya. And ive seen it a few times because its a great movie. Its made me want to learn more about Chairman Fred Hampton and other Black Panther party members. Its disgusting what our government has done to such an incredible man. Why because he was bringing us together. The school system should teach our children more about great men like Chairman Fred Hampton.

Beautiful conversation & film!!! 🙌🏾Thank you for hosting! Love seeing Chairman Fred Hampton, Jr. in the house! We keep RISING, in spite of the hatred this White establishment tries to bury us with...”You can jail a revolutionary, but you can’t jail the revolution!” - Chairman Fred Hampton, Sr. ❤️

This. Was. Awesome. We got such a window into what Daniel, LaKeith and Chairman had summoned up within and the emotional mental and physical price paid for us to see this story come to life. I bow to the willingness to reach so deep for our benefit to have our understanding become enriched by this and their willingness to share these vulnerable parts of themselves. Sandra

I have not watched the movie yet but I saw the trailer for it and I’m excited to see how the portrayal of The Black Panther movement is displayed. I didn’t even know of Chairman Fred Hampton and who he was but now you’ve definitely got my mind going and I want more. I’m eager to learn of it. I knew the movement wasn’t terroristic but made to look that way by the government because they were afraid of what our people could accomplish, afraid of the voices heard and the impact it would serve onto our community. I truly hope more movies and more media, knowledge period will come about to prove the antics of our people were not to be a terror but to help us rise up. Just because we look different color wise we shouldn’t be made out to be criminals. Let’s not forget the color that true terrorists really turned out to be. I’ll be back after I watch the movie. Get the message out we are ready to receive it!!✊🏾✊🏾

Daniel appears to be arrogant, out of sync, out of touch, and out of sorts when answering questions. He answered without making a direct connection to the character he played and legacy he was hired to portray and uphold. I believe this is largely due in part to him not having a direct lineage to this land, and more specifically not having a Blk American history lineage. LaKeith answered the questions in a more poignant and cogent manner, succinctly in accordance with the heritage he grew up learning about and experiencing as a Blk man in America to a very larger degree. LaKeith speaks more passionately, almost reminiscing, while Daniel speaks from a distant and detached fashion. My feeling is that LaKeith would have resonated more with the lead role.

British actors (of all races) in general have a different, more "detached" approach to acting than their American counterparts, which in a way tends to make them more compelling to watch. I'm curious: which well-known American actor do you think would have been a great fit to portray Chairman Fred? I say well-known because this film would not have been greenlit with an unknown actor.

Daniels not like that in every interview tho. He could just be tired you know how many interviews they had to do for this projects release? And he of course has to do double because he’s the lead. Could just be tired.
@dxjennae
@dxjennae 3 жыл бұрын
it seems like you're projecting your own feelings about him and about Black British actors as a whole onto him. it isn't mainly the fault of Black Americans, but the lack of knowledge about the history in the UK for Black people causes these kind of perceptions about the actors and Black Brits. furthermore, LaKeith said himself in an interview that nobody could've done the role better than Daniel. if he, as well as Mama Akua and Fred Hampton Jr themselves were happy with his performance, what can you really say?
