I have a good collection of Nepalese Khukuri's, and I agree with you. Looks like it was just buried in some ones wet back yard for maybe a year. I have found many of these restoration channels end up being fake.

@Facetiously.Esoteric Жыл бұрын
Why are you lying to this guy? He ruined the heat treatment right off the bat. This video is an example of everything NOT to do. Wtf wrong with you? Are you trying to sandbag him by lying? He will keep doing everything wrong if you claim he did everything right. Nothing he did was correct, from the rust removal to the handle, EVERY single action he made was wrong. He never even rehardened the blade after annealing. If you think he did a good job, I'm suspect of your knowledge.

Not quite sure why you heated it and what did you quench it in? It wasn't hot enough to harden and I think you may have only taken the temperance out of it. On your next restoration, instead of WD40, try ACF50.. Far superior for what you're trying to achieve. All that said, I admire your hard work.

yes you are absolutely right i agree ( thank you very much for watching your video )
@pennsyltuckyreb98008 ай бұрын
Yeah, I was confused about that. Why ruin the original temper? Now the whole thing is going to be soft and not hold an edge... 🤨
@krizalshrestha90943 ай бұрын
The video showing the khukuri restoration process was impressive. The khukuri, a traditional knife used by the Gorkhas during wars, played a crucial role when the British colonized India and attacked Nepal. It served as a formidable weapon in the hands of the Gorkhas during their resistance.

I feel it was a big mistake to heat the blade which resulted in damaging the heat treat/temper. There really was no reason to do this.. My suggestion for the handle is to draw out the original shape on paper. Then practice carving this shape until you are able to attain a reasonable facimille before attaching it carefully to the knife. Also, it would be really good to practice knife sharpening on non antique knives to gain proficiency regardless which type of system you use, then carefully apply this new skill to your precious antique knife. With respect. Good luck!

If you throw rusty metals directly into vinegar and let them sit for 12 hours, they will become clean. Just polishing and sharpening will be enough. Wooden parts can be restored in the same way.

Poorly educated people like you telling this clown he did a good job when he literally ruined the knife is why this channel will never succeed. He will never get better because he doesn't think he did anything wrong because simps like you lie to him. The first thing he did was ruin the heat treatment on the knife. You DON'T HEAT a knife unless you re going to harden it, or you are annealing it. Heating it softens the metal. He didn't even come close to heating it correctly. Then he heated the blade AGAIN, grinding it. He didn't sand the blade nor reharden it after annealing. I'm not even going to address the rest of the horrible work. Stop lying to this guy, that knife is a joke, and would be dangerous to use.

I agree that you left the steel very beautiful...but for me you didn't restore it, you worried about giving it shine. What was valuable, which was the handle of the dagger, you managed to break and treated it like trash in the end... for me it's not restoration. And another thing, how do you know the date of the dagger... did it have a manufacturing date?

Bro... just mention it as Kukri (spelled as Khukuri) only, "NOT KUKRI KNIFE". Kukri is a separate class, a Nepali Pride. For your information, the Kukri you are restoring is a "Sirupate Kukri". P.S. You ruined the handle. 😢😢😢
@aahands Жыл бұрын
😂😂😂 Yes, your point will also be correct but I did research, it is called this kukri only ?
@nwrz Жыл бұрын
Like Sword is a different class, and there are several types of swords. For example: Japanese famous Katana Sword. Do you call Sword a knife? 🤔 I don't think so. Similarly, Kukri is a different class, and there are several types of Kukris. And, in the video, you are restoring "Sirupate Kukri". In Nepali, "Chakku" is called for a "Knife". See, we have a separate word for a knife. Thus, it is called Kukri only. And if you ask what type of Kukri, then it is Sirupate Kukri.
